LENGTH: 69 Pages
BLURB: Eldridge Cristoff worked hard and rarely played, always leery of letting himself go after the humiliation he suffered at the hands of his college boyfriend. Best friend Isabella Catana, submissive and lover of Johnson Petri, invited him to a night at an upscale BDSM club, Club Rebellion-owned and operated by Johnson and his trio of friends. All dominants.
Dalton Peters has never collared his own sub nor had the desire until he met Eldridge. Dalton was immediately taken with the skittish man, deciding to make it his mission to release Eldridge from his sexual prison.
Slowly Eldridge realized the world he was meant to be in. A loving man and master at his side; he discovered submission was not a weakness but a true testament of his strong inner spirit.
With Dalton’s careful guidance, Eldridge had no choice but to give into his desires and heart, allowing Dalton to dominate his body and soul.
REVIEW:
I wouldn’t recommend this book to those diehard BDSM fans. It would be better suited to readers who like a hint of kink or readers who are just getting into BDSM in their books.
Eldridge Cristoff is a man who really needs to relax. His professional life is nonstop busy and he loves the idea of having someone who can make decisions for him in his personal life. He’s interested in exploring BDSM, has toyed with the idea since college, but is scared by it at the same time. The last time he tried to indulge his curiosity he was badly hurt. Physically and psychologically. When his best friend orders him to join her and her Dom boyfriend at a BDSM club he apprehensively goes along. Where he meets Dalton.
Dalton and his three closest friends (who all also happen to be Doms) built Club Rebellion up to be the exclusive BDSM club it has become. At this point in his life, Dalton is enjoying his single status. But all of that changes the moment he sets eye on Eldridge.
This is where the story lost some credibility in my opinion. Dalton is sitting in his club, pondering the awesomeness that is his life, even has the random thought that he doesn’t think he’d want a permanent relationship at the moment. Now, I don’t have an exact timeline but I’d estimate it’s only about four hours later that Dalton’s thoughts have changed to this- “He felt one with Eldridge and knew that this was the man that he had been waiting for all his life. If he believed in soul mates, then Eldridge would be his.”
As for Eldridge, who after his past experiences understandably has trust issues, well, he moves beyond them rather quickly. At their first meeting he describes Dalton as a man who scares the “heeby jeebies” out of him (I love that saying). But upon their second meeting he tells Dalton he loves him and tells Dalton’s friend that he’s ready to wear Dalton’s collar.
I think this book was just too light on the kink for my BDSM loving soul. Don’t get me wrong, I can love sweet and sappy if that’s what I’m expecting from a story but I prefer my BDSM to be sexier and nastier. I was excited over the promised wax play but there were no details of what happened. It was just sort of mentioned, and then the story moved on.
And the first “I love you” was sort of ruined for me but I’ll admit straight up that it was my own fault. What is with weird safe words? Personal preference, but I like when they stick with red and yellow. Dalton tells Eldridge to pick a word and Eldridge chooses “Goat”. Then they start with the romantic declarations but I was still too busy laughing my ass off at his choice of safe word. Maybe its just my kinky mind but what happens if Dalton says – Now I’m gonna make you my pony. And Eldridge yells- Goat! That boy could find himself in a set of horns being milked!
Sorry. Anyhoo…now that I’ve made it all awkward, like I said at the beginning, I’d recommend this book to those who like just a smidge of BDSM. Anyone who likes it hardcore will be disappointed but it was a quick, sweet read for those who might want to explore their vanilla boundaries.
