LENGTH: 54 pages
BLURB: Rich kid playboy Logan Sabourin has long been in love with his best friend. He’s learned to keep his game face on and smile, despite wanting to be Ryan Mora’s submissive in the worst way. He can’t be with Ryan the way he wishes, so when Ryan’s birthday rolls around, Logan buys his friend a fantasy. A submissive for the night.
Ryan Mora agrees to the elaborate gift his best friend gives him, only if Logan joins in. Lucky for them, his one night submissive, Cassidy James, is all for it. What started as Logan and Ryan sharing Cassidy turns into something deeper as a whipping scene reveals Logan’s submissive side. Soon Ryan is entertaining the prospect of having more with both men. But when morning comes, and Cassidy and Logan are nowhere to be found, it’s up to Ryan to turn their one night fantasy into reality.
REVIEW: I’m feeling the need to defend my rating. Why did I give 4 stars to a 54-page novella that is jam packed full of sex from one end to the other? Elementary, my dear readers. It’s because it’s so freakin’ hot!
Logan and Ryan have been best friends since they were children. Both from ridiculously wealthy families, neither man wants for any thing materially. So what does Logan get Ryan for his birthday? The chance to live out a fantasy for a night. He gets in contact with a secretive agency, one that specializes in pairing up their clients so they can play out their fantasies.
Enter Cassidy, a lawyer by day who dreams of being dominated by his lover. After several disappointments he contacts the agency in an attempt to see his needs met.
In a twist that shocks Logan, Ryan insists that he stay so they can share Cassidy. They’ve shared lovers before, and Cassidy is definitely on board with the idea, so Ryan can’t understand why Logan hesitates. Logan desperately wants to be Ryan’s submissive but is scared of damaging their friendship. However Cassidy can see the truth and shares Logan’s secret with Ryan. The result is one of the hottest, sexiest nights of man lovin’ that I’ve ever read.
Usually I’m not that fussed on sex scenes, and sex probably makes up about 70% of this book. I think I read somewhere that Avril Ashton doesn’t enjoy writing sex scenes or maybe it was she struggles to write sex scenes (I tried to find where I read that but I couldn’t so don’t be hating on me if I’m wrong!). Well anyhow, she out did herself with this story.
When books are filled with this much sex people normally label them as porn with plot but the sex in When Morning Comes basically is the plot. It’s the reason the three men come together and it makes the non-sex parts stand out even more. I loved it when they all just snuggled in bed together talking.
Another reason I loved this book, Avril Ashton avoids sticking to stereotypes when she crates her characters. Her Dom loves to bottom and the subs are “manly” men who like to top. There are no predefined roles when it comes to the sex.
This was a sexy, quick read which was surprisingly angst free. Normally Avril’s writing makes me so nervous and tense I feel like I have a stomach ulcer when I read her books. And the cover is so damn hot it should make everyone want to check out the fun inside.
