Hope Cove: Book Three
Haydn Prescott stood by and watched his friends fall in love, something he hopes never happens to him. It’s too much drama, thankyouverymuch. He just wants a hot guy to roll around with every once in a while. No muss, no fuss. Out for a night of dancing, he meets Trevor Ryan and the two are explosive together. The next morning, Haydn wakes up alone.
Trevor is gone and Haydn thinks he’s seen the last of him… until months later when Trevor walks into Haydn’s bakery in Hope Cove. Entanglements and complications ooze from Trevor, but Haydn can’t ignore him—Trevor won’t let him. Haydn always believed he wanted to be free and single forever, but now he’s torn: does he want to be with Trevor or should he play it safe and stick to what’s worked?
REVIEW:
First I would like to start off with saying that I totally love the fact that both author Cate Ashwood and publisher Dreamspinner Press went and published this trilogy one right after the other. For a fanatic series reader like me, that is heaven on earth to not have to wait months or years for a new part.
I had the pleasure and luck to have been able to read and review all three parts and see the series come to life in the words of the author.
This third part starts of with an explosion of Hotness!
Haydn meets Trevor one specific night when he is out with his friends; friends we know from the earlier two books in this series.
As a matter of fact, let me take a moment to mention that it is great to read about the main characters from the first two parts. It is good to see how Oliver and Mack are doing from Brokenhearted and how Declan and Lucas, the main characters from Wholehearted, are making it work.
The friendship and bonding between all the men is great, warm and hopeful and as a reader I appreciated the interaction greatly. It is comforting to read about them on a poker night and to see little snippets from Declan and Lucas. We do get a lot of Oliver and Mack (and their little girl) in this final part.
Haydn is working the bakery with Oliver and they have found a great rhythm and partnership in this to both their satisfaction.
When Trevor by coincidence steps in this same bakery many weeks after he and Haydn had their hot night in a hotel room things start to roll in all kind of directions.
From Trevor’s little girl Violet to his sister Sam and the instant connection/attraction there (still) is between Haydn and Trevor.
We find Haydn struggling between his mind and his heart because he cannot deny his feelings for Trevor and that when they are together it feels really good.
But his mind keeps telling him this isn’t going to stick, that this is going to end badly because in his mind everything does in the end (despite what his friends keep telling him).
Author Cate Ashwood keeps the reader on the edge between Haydn’s mind, his feelings and his actions as she also adds Trevor’s careful approaches and advances. Not to forget his adorable little girl Violet. This little girl will steal your heart for sure, let me just mention Purple 🙂
You can feel it escalating to the boiling point and when it arrives it leaves you hanging with so many mixed emotions there.
There is major drama added near the end and although you can feel it coming, pay attention to what you are reading so it doesn’t surprise you. It is carefully written and makes sense.
What I do regret is not being able to read more of what happens after, without wanting to spoil how they get back together again.
The end did leave me a with a bit of a rushed feeling. I would have liked to have seen more in the wrap up of this story. It goes a bit too easy in my honest opinion.
Summering it all up I have to say, where Oliver (and Mack) stole my heart in the first book, I cannot deny that Trevor(and Haydn) come very close in this last one.
Combined with the easy style of the author, Cate Ashwood, and the complete feeling you get reading this story, I would highly recommend this whole trilogy to any reader and I dare you to not fall in love with Hope Cove and it’s citizens.
