Grant Maxwell, aka Max, wakes to find his coffeepot has died in the night. Not one who can start his day without his favorite brew, he heads to the local coffee shop. Max finds something even more appealing than caffeine in the form of a twenty-six-year-old hottie Aiden James. For the first time in his life, well-established, confident and respected Dom Max finds himself sputtering and unsure in the face of Aiden’s charms.
Aiden lives with three roommates, works a dead-end job, and isn’t sure where his life is heading, that is, until he meets Max. Max introduces him to a foreign yet intriguing lifestyle, and they soon discover they have something more than mutual attraction in common.
A shared kink is one thing, but Aiden’s past vanilla sexual experiences as well as his fear of losing himself in Max may keep Aiden from experiencing his fantasy. Max has an obstacle of his own to overcome. He must somehow figure out how to help Aiden explore his submissive side when, for the first time in his life, he’s head over heels in love
REVIEW:
This book started out fantastic for me as I loved the chemistry and the built up between Max and Aiden.
I have to say after the first two parts of this series, which I highly recommend, I was already hoping for this third part to be between these two men.
I have to say that to me the book is split in two parts. The first part is the meeting and the two main characters getting to know each other. Their chemistry sizzles from the screen.
And the second part is about establishing their D/s relationship. Max teaches Aiden the ground rules of that and Aiden adjusting to the lifestyle, getting to know what it entails, what his own limits are and exploring boundaries.
The chemistry that I already mentioned is out of this world. The two guys fit from the moment you start reading and you get sucked in.
It is easy to connect to Max or Aiden and to add your own personal view on them and their relationship. At least that is what I like to do as a reader.
Without wanting to spoil too much, I would like to say I loved the way Aiden needed to settle things for himself regarding his life how it was before Max, the changes that came with meeting Max and how he tells his mom. And the reader is in for a big surprise there!
No I am not going to tell, but what a fantastic twist and unexpected extra there! Kudo’s Miss Peterson on that one.
Moving on to the second part, I’m not a hardcore bdsm reader but I do like it on occasion especially when it comes from a author I like or when it is part of a series or interesting characters.
This second part of the book though was a bit too much for me. It is very much about the dynamics of the D/s relationship as it is about contracts, attitude and settling in a specific way of life.
The ending shows again a different subject than both other books in this series. The commitment between both main characters has it’s own unique way of finalizing and I loved that 🙂
Miss Peterson keeps surprising her readers that way, finding many different aspects of D/s relationships as well as relationships in general.
I do want to mention I would have loved some more interaction between the characters from the former stories. That could be a personal thing but if I remember the table conversation with all the subs as also Aiden was part of that and that part made me long for Max and Aidan’s story. I would have loved to have read a bit more about that for example in this book.
Overall I have to say it was great reading Max and Aiden’s story and finding out how they came to be an item.
