TITLE: Goosed
ANTHOLOGY: 2013 Advent Calender – Heartwarming
AUTHOR: Sasha Payne
LENGTH: 52 pages
BLURB: Constable Mark Cordwell and Sergeant Bryn Powell deliver post, transport the children to school, and make sure the older inhabitants are safe in their quiet farming village deep in the Welsh countryside. It’s their first holiday together since Mark transferred from England, and Bryn and his neighbors are determined to let Mark know he’s welcome, with little traditions that mark the season. As Christmas and the Plygain service approach, Bryn has one more gift up his sleeve—and he knows it’s the one that will make their holidays perfect.
REVIEW:
Constable Mark Cordwell has just moved from London to a Welsh countryside. The story narrates the happenings during the Christmas time as Mark and his partner Bryn spend their first holiday together. Village is buzzing with happiness and the people around Mark show him how warmly welcomed he is into their lives.
It is indeed a very sweet story where we get some fleshed-out characters to whom we could relate to. The real strength of this book was the author’s brilliant writing skills. Payne’s choice of words pull you in and they engage you truly with the story. I loved getting to know Mark and Bryn and the loving people around them. It was like reading one of those Jane Austen books where families matter and not just the main characters. I liked that about this book.
The story, however, has a very slow build up and do not expect any drama or cliff-hangery stuff out of it because Goosed is a feel-good story. It is meant to cheer you up, put you into the Christmas mood and have you feel the warmth of love around you.

Sounds like a favourite chocolate: bit of form, soft and sweet inside and gone in a flash!
Now I am craving for some yummy chocolates… way to go, Suze 😛
Love the title but I am not so sure of the story.
You know, title was the first thing that attracted me to this story Debra 🙂
I love “feel-good” stories. Sometimes you just need something without all the tension. 🙂
When you see it that way- yes, I think this story actually refreshed my mind 🙂
Sound like a very sweet story.
It is, J 🙂 You should give it a try.
I am such a sap for men who look out for others, care for children, serve and protect, etc. I think I actually heard myself sigh when I read the first sentence of the blub. 🙂 This story sounds like a real pleasure, drama-less and all!
The story does promise all that. I think this would be perfect for your reading Peaches!
