AUTHOR: Anne Brooke
PUBLISHER: Wilde City Press
LENGTH: 11, 500 words
BLURB: The moment model and part-time actor Benjamin spots the sexually alluring Alan outside his local restaurant, he’s determined to get to know him better. So he takes a chance and pretends to be Timothy, the blind date Alan is waiting for.
When Alan asks him about submission, safe words and spanking, Benjamin knows the sensible thing to do would be to leave. Funny then how he finds himself eager to know more. Will it be a date to remember and, if Alan discovers his deceit, could he ever be persuaded to take a chance on Benjamin?
REVIEW:
A bold chance taken can bring some unimaginable, great, fun-filled, kinky and explicit night, who woulda thought?!
Benjamin meets Alan outside a restaurant, who is looking for his blind date for the night and Ben is so taken by Alan’s hotness that he pretends to be Timothy just so that he could spend some quality time with the man. Little does he know what Alan has in store for him – or to say, what he and Timothy had plans for…
Now, with the web of lies he has personally woven around himself, Benjamin has got to play along and accept whatever comes his way – even when it is kind of weird. True, the BDSM relationship freaks him out, but he also finds himself curious as hell. He would try anything for and with Alan.
The beginning was indeed, quite amusing. You have to read it to experience the fun and it definitely makes for a quick, light-hearted read. Benjamin manages to bring humor in this book while his inner conscience remains at war most of the time. Brooke has given him a distinct identity in this whole story whereby even with so little details, we connect with the character’s personality quite smoothly. Alan, on the other hand, is someone who we see through Benjamin’s eyes and he is the God of Sex! Benjamin literally is drooling over this man and someone having such an extreme effect on him must be quite a piece of meat, don’t you think?
The end was predictable, at least to me, but to state the fact – I wouldn’t have had it any different. I liked this story right from the first word to the last one. If you are looking for a hardcore BDSM book, this one isn’t for you. It lightly touches that subject matter but we don’t see the typical props or scenes that usually are in a regular BDSM book. The sex scene between Alan and Benjamin is steamy, nonetheless!
After reading a few angsty books in a row, I was looking for a change that could refresh my mind. So if this is what you seek, I highly recommend it, because Taking A Chance is worth taking a chance on!
