REVIEW:
Tyler and Glen have been best friends for years so when a stipulation in Tyler’s inheritance states he has to marry before his 25th birthday, Glen takes it upon himself to propose to Tyler, after a few women tell Tyler no. While Glen knew his feelings for Tyler, Tyler didn’t realize the connection they always had was something more until their first kiss… at their wedding. Now as newlyweds, they’re exploring much more than their awakened sexuality and love. With Tyler’s huge inheritance, he’s made quite a few enemies, ones who are trying to kill Glen to get it. Will these boys be able to defeat an international affair before something life-threatening happens?
I have to say, this was a very light and fun read. It’s comical but also sweet. I enjoyed reading it because of the different layers that Tyler and Glen have, not to mention all the troubles they get up to. Not only are there billions of dollars at stake but now there’s security teams, spies, assassins, pirates and kidnappings. It’s got a little bit of everything when it comes to an adventure including meeting new people (highly dangerous people) and following the trail of money to the culprit but also has some do-gooders moments where Tyler and Glen share the wealth they now have.
Tyler is a very surprising kind of guy. He’s perfected the ‘dumb jock’ attitude and uses it when he wants someone to underestimate him but, in reality, he’s a very sharp minded individual who can outplay anyone in pretty much anything. Glen is like his rock. Where Tyler can be loud and outgoing, Glen is more quiet and calm. I absolutely adored Glen and his quiet nature. He’s sweet but able to soothe Tyler during anything. The two have been best friends for years, bonding over hockey, but have made a connection that can dispute any of the claims that their marriage is not legit.
While I enjoyed the characters and the overall story, I will say that I had a few niggles. For one, the story is… well, all over the place. The transition between one scene and the next was jarring and confusing sometimes and it was hard for me to follow along while they were trying to gather evidence against the ‘villain’ (which was not hard for me to figure out from the beginning). Beyond that, the repetitiveness and flaunting of Tyler’s new fortune and how rich he was and ‘yes, he is THAT Tyler’, grew annoying after the fifth mention. I get that it’s probably shocking to meet ‘the fourth richest man in the world’ but having Tyler bring it up to every side character was just a little over the top.
In the end, this story was a wild ride but very fun that’ll give you a few good laughs while having you ‘awwww’ over the couple Tyler and Glen make. While I wouldn’t call this exactly a romance (or a honeymoon), it definitely was an adventure and if you’re looking for something light, fun and all around enjoyable, give this book a try.
