Life at the Jarvela farm hobbles on when the new year rolls in. Losing his wife and co-alpha in the storm of the decade emotionally paralyzed Sean, though he tries to cope and attempts to pick up the pieces with their children. Rider, another alpha, could give him the love and comfort he needs, but Sean is too depressed to recognize the possibility of having a male partner, and he goes into mental tailspin.
Rider makes the hard decision to leave for a while, and Sean turns his energy and sadness into working on the neighboring Metsala farm with the other members of their farm family. But Sean isn’t really getting better, and that won’t change until he can let his wolf out again. If he doesn’t, he might lose his sanity too.

Positive by Tia Fielding
Even after a decade, the life that journalist Brent Walsh and Milwaukee homicide detective Shawn Mackey have made together is far from boring. But when a new case cuts a weekend getaway short, they aren’t quite prepared for how it will impact their personal lives. Suddenly there’s too much to juggle: Shawn will be working the case of the sharpshooter who is trying to infect random people with HIV, Brent needs to cover the story but fears a conflict of interest, one of Shawn’s colleagues is attracted to him, and Brent sincerely needs to mend the painful break with his childhood best friend, Ollie, and heal their broken hearts.
Though the case comes to a close, it’s not the end of their troubles. Shawn and Brent still face a past of old white lies, a present possibility of inviting another man to their bed, and a future with children, not to mention health issues and national fallout from the case. It’s enough to make them want to run away—until they realize they have to face those challenges head-on so they can get on with the life of love they’re hoping for.
Excerpt from Positive:
“How bad is it?” Brent asked as they walked into their homey kitchen and he went to get Shawn a beer from the fridge.
To buy himself some time, Shawn detoured to the bedroom and put his gun and badge inside the wall safe before walking back to Brent.
Shawn sat down at their small breakfast nook and rubbed his face with his palms. “Not sure yet.” That was the truth, for now.
“Han said it could turn into a shit storm and she hasn’t gotten any info from your side of things.” Meaning she hadn’t gotten information from whichever cop she had a deal with, Shawn thought.
“It’s very under wraps right now,” Shawn said before taking a deep pull from his bottle.
“Oh?” Brent’s tone was peculiar, probably just like Shawn’s own, he thought.
“Yeah, look, Brent—”
“You can’t tell me, you won’t tell me, or you just don’t want to?” Brent asked, his tone sharper than he must’ve meant.
“Shit,” Shawn said under his breath, then looked up into Brent’s gorgeous hazel eyes. “Sit down, babe.” He nodded toward the other chair, where Brent sat with him almost every meal they shared, unless they were too lazy and ate in front of the TV in the living room.
“Okay….” Brent sounded slightly confused
“This goes nowhere, okay? Not even Hannah. This is….” Shawn made an agitated motion with his free hand and took another drink.
Brent nodded, looking even more confused.
“First of all, I don’t know much. I know the guy is a decent shot, has creativity at least…. I’ll go check out the spot where he shot the woman tomorrow while Ash goes to see her in the hospital.”
“So she’s alive, then?” Brent leaned back in his seat.
“Yeah. It wasn’t a real bullet.”
“Han said it was a tranquilizer gun, so—a dart?” Brent raised a brow, and Shawn swallowed. The hard part was ahead of him now.
“Yeah. Babe, it was a dart, but it wasn’t any kind of medicine that was in it.” His eyes strayed for a moment, but he forced them back to meet Brent’s gaze. “It was blood.”
“What?” Brent blinked, then suddenly it dawned on him. “It was positive, wasn’t it? That’s why you’re acting weird.”
“Yeah, look—”
“Fuck!” Brent hissed, turning his head, probably to look at the array of medicine bottles littering the end of the counter close to the fridge.
“Honey, it’s not…. I mean, yeah, I got some funny looks at work and all, but it’s pretty normal, I think. They would look at anyone for any reason, you know that. It’s not like they’re singling me out.”
“Yeah, but you’re the only one who has a positive life partner.” Brent’s tone was defeated.
“That we know of, yes. But—”
“If they give you crap for this, it’s my fault.”

Author Bio:
Tia Fielding is a 32-year-old Scandinavian. She is a self-proclaimed “queer girl”, lover of everything pretty, witty people, words, cats, sarcasm, autumn, and caffeine.
Tia started writing stories early on, almost as soon as she learned how to write. The early stories about horses and ghosts have changed into romantic tales about people in love. She stopped writing at some point in her late teens and early twenties, but began again half a decade ago after finding fan fiction. Tia is not ashamed of her past of borrowing other people’s characters, but has found creating her own much more satisfying.
Great excerpt and both books sound great.
This is a great series and I look forward to reading more.
