BLURB: Nate Tippie and Brandon Wilde are gay, single, and both hoping to meet that special man, even though fate has not yet delivered him to their doorstep. Nate’s sister, Hannah, and her kooky best friend, Marilyn, are about to help fate with that task by creating a profile on the gay dating site, OpenHeartOpenMind. The two women are only exploring, but when they need a face and body for the persona they create, they use Nate as the model.
When Brandon comes across the false profile, he falls for the guy he sees online. Keeping up the charade, Hannah begins corresponding with him, posing as Nate. Real complications begin when Brandon wants to meet Nate, but Nate doesn’t even know he’s being used in the online dating ruse. Hannah and Marilyn concoct another story and send Nate out to let the guy down gently. But when Nate and Brandon meet, the two men feel an instant and powerful pull toward each other. Cupid seems to have shot his bow, but how do Nate and Brandon climb out from under a mountain of deceit without letting go of their chance at love?
REVIEW:
This story got me from the start. I loved the beginning and the idea. Brandon is just too sweet but comes over as genuine from the start and you just have to adore him.
I really enjoyed the mess up with the girls. Hannah (Nate’s sister) and her bff Marilyn and their drunken attempt to set up the page for Nate are hilarious.
Hannah’s attempt to connect with Brandon is funny and sweet in the beginning, but that is the start of what bothers me in the rest of the story. Hannah is too much. She’s irritating and really bothered me in the continuation of the story. Yes, the attempt is nice and fun and even the talking is enjoyable and funny. When she starts sending messages while Nate and Brandon have connected, however, that goes way over the top and is really too much. It really set me off from the whole rest of the story where I honestly loved the exchanges between Nate and Brandon.
As always Author Rick Reed has a great way of telling a story. His writing is well-crafted and the story is easy to read. You’re really able to relate to both Nate and Brandon (one of the things I like to read in a story) and you can find emotions and hotness plenty in this one too.
With so many secrets between them it is hard for Nate and especially Brandon to deal with things that are being thrown at him. With the meddling from Hannah to top it off it is understood that there is drama being set up.
The question that arises is that will they get through the drama? Their relationship was going pretty fast, with their connection forging quickly and they seemed made for each other. How will it affect their relationship when all secrets are out?
I have to say I liked how Rick Reed worked through the secrets and tricky situations. I could completely relate to Brandon’s reactions and I thought Nate and his responses and reactions were very real. Personally I do think Nate was too easy on Hannah but I am glad it didn’t cost them their relationship as brother and sister and I can feel the loneliness and jealous feelings where she was coming from. Nate’s secret wasn’t very surprising and the way he handled it in the blogs was awesome.
Overall this is a great read, easy going with a little drama and lots of romance. There’s a little hitch here and there but in total an enjoyable read. I have read more from this author and will continue to do so.
