LENGTH: 125 Pages
BLURB: All Parker Anderson has ever wanted is to take over as CEO of Anderson Industries when his father retires. Parker finds an unlikely ally in Mason Pike, the company’s resident IT guru. What starts as a flirtation takes them from coworkers to coconspirators in a plan to forcibly buy Anderson Industries out from under Parker’s father. While they focus on the buyout, their budding romance has to be put on hold, but that doesn’t stop them from flirting and teasing each other to distraction—and once their master plan comes to fruition, nothing and no one can keep them apart.
REVIEW:
The blurb of the story sums it up very neatly. Parker Anderson – the Prince of Anderson Industries is forced to prove his capabilities when his father decides to sell off the company rather than handing over the responsibilities to his son. With the help of some true friends, this task doesn’t seem as difficult. Add up the support of his new found love and Parker has the strength of a man for whom nothing can be impossible. The nerdy IT professional of Parker’s company, Mason Pike grabs Parker’s attention on their first meet. His handsome features and cocky attitude pushes all his right buttons, which kick starts an affair to remember!
The Buyout made for a quick read, where I could just sit back and relax with it. There was no angst, not too much drama to make me pull my hair out, the characters remained sane most of the time and there wasn’t an abrupt ending to the story, which I always fear whenever I pick up a novella. I absolutely loved the romantic part of the story. Parker and Mason are adorable, with their flirtatious banter. The IMs back and forth between them made up for a cute gesture. There were fun moments, too, when I couldn’t help but laugh out loud!
I am impressed by the author, for her writing skills as well as her researching abilities. It seems she either had some good knowledge of business management or she has researched enough. Though I was quite amused to see how quickly the BoD seemed to accept Parker’s proposal in the end. Usually, such meetings run for hours and for days at times. And Board meetings tend to get ugly even for a simple issue and this was a buyout – a major change for the company! That and some loose ends left out with the main characters’ pasts made me not rate this book higher than 4 stars – which I was actually dying to give because I truly ate this book out. If you ask me to rate the cuteness factor in this story, I would definitely give it a five on five!
Bru Baker has managed to enchant me with her flawless writing and I am sure I will be picking up her books from now on without even reading the blurb.
