Today, we have here with us the lady, who has been writing M/M Romance novels for a long time. Her novels have not only been bestsellers, but she is also an award winning novelist and now, an executive producer of her first feature film “Capital Games”. She is none other than the author of Amazon’s current bestseller “Marry Me” – G.A. Hauser!

First of all, Ms. Hauser, let me take this opportunity to welcome you to The Blog of Sid Love and to thank you for agreeing to do this interview for me and the readers.

Thank you, Sid. I am really honored you asked. It’s wonderful for you to think of me.

“Marry Me” has been a success and I have noticed that your readers and fans have been gushing over the main characters Braxton and Fabian. What do you think makes them so interesting?

I love to delve into a character’s flaws…see them grow. Braxton Todd in particular. He had been painted in a very bad light by the press, and with good reason. Braxton had no trust, no faith and had built a wall around himself to protect him- Becoming a one-date-cad. But Braxton had reasons for his fears, which I will not get into so we don’t do a spoiler. Fabian on the other hand, he was simply a loving man, who had been in a relationship that had failed, had bad luck with work from a lousy economy, and his priority was keeping a steady income and not temping any longer. When he met Braxton, he was terrified of becoming a notch to his bedpost. To me, their growth as men, their gaining of trust, that’s what this book was all about. It was subtle, and could be missed if you didn’t pay attention to what was going on in their heads.

How and when did you come up with the story?

I can’t recall what my muse was for this particular story, but I do love the idea of office romance. Many offices have them. “I Love You I Hate You”, was also about office love. 
The workplace is such a huge catalyst for passion, and of course, taboo at times, since sexual harassment, and the risk of being around someone you seriously don’t like if the love goes south.

“Marry Me” has been the number one bestseller in the GLBT category of Amazon. How does it feel?

Any author will tell you that being number one on any list is a great feeling. Knowing people are reading your work, liking it, and seeing the novel climb the scale to #1 is like being high. Of course we all know it is fleeting, but its fabulous just to get there even if its for a day.

Tell us something about “Capital Games” and your experience as an executive producer.

Well! Making a movie. Quite a different arena than publishing. I felt like chum in a shark tank. I wrote up a blog about my experience of the day to day work.

It was an emotional roller coaster and yet, seeing Mark Richfield and Steve Miller come to life was an amazing experience. I think once this movie is premiered and for sale on DVD my fans will fall in love with it. The straight boys did very well indeed. They exceeded my expectations.
I read your bio, where it says you used to work with Seattle PD. It’s interesting to see how a patrol officer back then is now a successful full time writer. What’s the story behind that?

Yes, I worked on patrol in a car with a very big gun! 🙂 The story is I moved to London, and well, the commute from London to Seattle? Just a little too far for me. So, I had to give up being a cop. Which on retrospect is fine. I have no idea how I did it, looking back. It was the toughest job I have ever done in my life. But…writing cop stories now is a blast. I use my own personal experience and my own calls for service in my books. Not to mention, I had the hottest partner on the department and we did indeed play dirty, making my work very interesting indeed! Shh, don’t tell anyone we did that. 😉

Is there a specific author who inspired you to become a writer?

Anne Rice and Mary Renault. I craved gay romance, and those two glorious ladies gave me what I needed in an era when there simply was nothing out there like today. That’s what inspired me to write male/male erotic romance. It was what I wanted to read, yet there was nothing out there at the time. Either porn or Saturday afternoon specials with nothing in between. I wrote what I wanted to read.

What are you reading currently?

My own proofs and edits, and believe me, that’s enough! I am so busy writing a book a month, I no longer read anything. I also don’t want to read any of my contemporaries to avoid any of their ideas in inadvertently getting into my head.

Are there any new projects that you are working on?

I write a book a month. Next month I will be releasing my 90th novel. The Farmer’s Son. I am currently working on a new book called, COPS. Ironic, huh? It’s about the policemen from Top Men, Mickey and Jeff, with a cover photo licensed by the great Micheal Stokes, and designed by Syd Gill. It will be hot, gritty and raw, like Top Men, and again, will feature my personal experiences.

Any advice you’d like to give to the aspiring writers out there?

Yes, Never give up! Never give up! Oh, did I mention, NEVER GIVE UP!
and be good to each other. Don’t write nasty reviews for other authors. Karma’s a bitch.
