Is my ‘sexy’ your idea of ‘sexy’?
Andrew’s Promise is part of my Heroes series, a series that features men who are heroes, not because they leap from tall buildings to save the day, but because they put other people first. They are all about love and protection, taking care of those people who are important in their lives. Being a hero may mean making sacrifices, or being understanding, or just being there. It’s what’s on the inside that makes a hero.
I need to be honest here, and say that even though my heroes are everyday men—mechanics, firefighters, schoolteachers, accountants—I have been criticized for making them too good looking. It may have only been one comment but it got me thinking about characters being ‘too perfect’.
Some of my heroes are lean and muscled like Tanner, or totally ripped from working out at the gym, like Andrew, who uses the gym as his escape. I like both these types of physiques and they suit the characters. I’m a fan of scruff, and a bit of hair on the chest but I’ve also written characters who are hair free. Andrew has a tattoo because I think they’re sexy and it fits his personality. He is a buff mechanic and drives a muscle car, and I find that image hot.
Do you have a preferred appearance, a ‘type’? Do you find a certain occupation sexy?
Maybe my characters are too good looking but in whose eyes? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. I know some people hate tattoos, some people prefer dark hair, or maybe it’s just the right smile they find attractive. But when it comes down to it, apart from describing my guys at the beginning of the book, the focus is usually on their characters and actions, with a bit of hot sex to spice things up a bit. I like to think I leave enough room for the reader to use their imagination and picture ‘sexy’ in their mind.
I hope you enjoy Andrew and Tanner’s story in Andrew’s Promise. Andrew’s Promise is book 2 in the Heroes series. It can be read standalone but maximum enjoyment will be gained by reading Charlie’s Hero, the first book in the series where Andrew first makes an appearance. The full series is available on Amazon and can be read for free as part of a Kindle Unlimited subscription. Check the series out here.
Happy reading,
Nic xx
Andrew’s Promise
A tragedy forces them apart. A second chance brings them together.
Young mechanic Andrew Campbell’s life couldn’t be better. He is about to restore a Ford Mustang with his dad before heading off on the ultimate cross-country road trip with his best friend, Tanner McKenzie. But tragedy strikes, and Andrew’s life is shattered.
Forced to make a tough choice between following his heart and doing what he needs to do to protect his little brother, Andrew pushes Tanner away.
Heartbroken, Tanner heads off on the planned trip alone. His life takes a different path and it’s ten years before he returns. Now a firefighter, he’s never forgotten his first love, and no one has ever taken Andrew’s place in his heart. He’s determined to see if Andrew feels the same way.
Tanner just hopes Andrew is excited to see him and that he’s available—and finally out—after all this time. Because if he is, the time might be right for their second chance at love.
