BLURB:
More than ten years ago, a series of train bombings devastated railways throughout Europe. Strange poetry sent to local newspapers right before each bombing, confounded investigators at the time. In one of only a handful of failed covert missions, Jarrett had been sent into North Korea to take out the bomber. Now, as his wedding to Thayne approaches, an explosion in Southern California, threatens to ruin their plans for a very special day.
Sucked back into a new case when they’re supposed to be on vacation, neither Jarrett nor Thayne are very happy. When the bomber strikes too close to home, they know they have no choice… especially when the threat seems to be specifically directed at one them.
While recovering from recent trauma and torture, Thayne has put his heart into crafting the single most beautiful event he can imagine for his husband-to-be. When plans for their special Christmas wedding begin to blow up, he is distraught. A sadistic killer with special skills, a strange vocabulary, and a twisted thirst for revenge, is bent on destroying everything.
Join Thayne, Jarrett, and all their friends as they rush to stop the fiend and reclaim their Christmas wedding before one more person dies.
REVIEW:
I was so thankful that Patricia Logan realized she wasn’t done with these two amazing men because I knew I wasn’t.
Thayne is stuck home recovering from his near-death injuries he suffered from the hands of Miles Lang. To keep himself busy, when Jarrett has to return to the ATF after time on Maui, he and his mom Dot throw themselves into planning his and Jarrett’s dream Christmas Eve wedding. In the final week before the wedding, they are pulled back from vacation when a cold case Jarrett worked on, as a sniper for the Marines in his earlier life, suddenly appears at their back door. When their reception venue is blown up they both realize the bomber has made this personal. Are Thayne and Jarrett going to have to postpone/cancel their wedding in order to protect their family and friends?
Patty, Patty, Patty…you are killing me! You finally get my boys engaged and ready for their wedding and then you throw a bomber at them?!?! Couldn’t you at least give them time off for their wedding they deserve? Even SAC Stangler realized they deserved some time after all they have been through…lol!
This book was written a bit differently and I really, really liked the change. Instead of being inside just Jarrett and Thayne’s heads, we experienced the thoughts of some of their close friends. I enjoyed seeing how they thought and where their minds went.
I am truly loving the development between FBI Agent Lincoln Snow and ATF Agent Sarah Connor. I foresee some major developments coming between those two, especially after Sarah’s big scare.
I really loved this book. I have grown very attached to both these men and have been wanting them to finally be out in the open and move forward with their lives. I was so sad to see Tim Darcy be killed off in the last book but I am liking Sarah’s new partner Devonne “Dev” King. In true Patty fashion, this woman is not only feisty but a good fit for the team. She also has some twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. Bringing in Nicodemo “Nicky” Devecchio to replace Craig Baldwin, Jose’s former partner, who is now in prison after being the mole in their unit, was a great choice. I also look forward to a lot from this savvy former NYPD cop that has an incredible brain and will be a true asset.
As I stated, I am so thankful that Patty Logan realized that she wasn’t anywhere near through with our beloved Thayne and Jarrett. There is just too much more of their, their friends and their family’s stories that need to play out. This is one of my favorite series and I just can’t recommend it enough. I am now impatiently waiting for more of my Death and Destruction fix because I love these guys completely…body and soul!
