SERIES: 2017 Dreamspinner Advent Calendar- Stocking Stuffers

AUTHOR: Jaime Samms

LENGTH: 58 Pages

BLURB:

Every time it seems like things are looking up for Eugene Kraft, disaster hits. Bankruptcy, a bigoted sibling, and a back-breaking accident have all left him with little money and less faith in the universe.

His last-ditch effort at peace is the small lakeside property where he is building a tiny house from recycled materials. If he can get it livable before the cold sets in, maybe he’ll be okay. Hopefully Cullen, the foreman on the construction site next door, won’t notice Eugene pilfering discarded materials from his dumpster.

When Cullen stops by to talk to Eugene, he’s sure the gig is up—but all Cullen wants is a date. Can two things go right in Eugene’s life? At first it seems possible. Projects on Eugene’s house are getting completed by what he dubs “construction elves” while he’s off site. But like Eugene predicted, his good fortune can’t last, and soon he has a tough choice to make: give up his home… or the man of his dreams.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2017 Advent Calendar “Stocking Stuffers.”

REVIEW:

Eugene is doing his best to make his dreams come true. a little at a time. He’s lost everything more than once but doesn’t see the fact that he keeps dusting himself off and trying again as something he should be proud of.

Along comes Cullen to change his mind.

Eugene is sweet and caring and even though life has not been kind to him, he keeps doing his best for others. When Cullen stumbles into his life, he thinks he’s in trouble but it turns out, Cullen just thinks he’s adorable. It takes some work from Cullen and a smack up the back of his head from family to make Eugene see that he deserves nice things in his life.

I don’t want to say too much because it is a short story and I don’t want to spoil it, but the characters are adorable and definitely worth cheering for. The sex is sweet and hot and perfectly timed.

This little story is a lovely cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night. Just what you need to make you smile.
