Battered & bruised, but not broken is an erotic, male/male, gay romance novel. It’s the culmination of two lost souls finding what they didn’t know they were looking for.
Hunter is an ex-con, always in the wrong place at the worst times which is how he landed in prison. He’s looking to start anew when in walks Elliott.
Timid and sheltered Elliott has his life in order. Or so he thinks, that is until Hunter introduces him to a whole new world.
Both are battling past demons, but what happens when their worlds collide?
REVIEW:
Battered and Bruised, but Not Broken is a bittersweet, but very entertaining and heartwarming love story with a very personable writing style, two unique characters and a solid plot-line with some seriously hot sexy-time.
Two chance meetings bring two people together who otherwise would never have met and these encounters change both their lives for good. Their awkwardness at the beginning is very well written and the build up of their relationship is beautifully done. We get all kinds of emotions along the way and Hunter and Elliot deserve their happily ever after big time.
The writing style for both MCs’ perspectives is very friendly, but sometimes way to informal. For me in all the banter and funny inner monologues Hunter and Elliott’s chemistry sometimes got lost especially during the first half of the book. I didn’t feel the spark, the fire. They had plenty of great, very well written sexy scenes together but the emotions didn’t always came through. It certainly changed int he second part. If you enjoy your stories with a serious amount of sizzling hot sex, this book would be up your alley.
Although the writing is solid and has its own great characteristics, I just didn’t get some part of it. I mean in the middle of a freakin hot and well written blowjob scene “Ding, ding, ding, winner, winner, chicken dinner!” is definitely distracting and it pulled me out of the scene in no time flat. On the other hand the emotional changes were really well done from easygoing and lighthearted to serious and heartbreaking in just a few paragraphs. We get to know both Hunter and Elliott pretty well but I would have liked a bit more details and depth on their personalities and pasts. Sometimes the sexy-time overpowered the story for me.
Overall, I would say the writing has great power and a gripping quality, and I really liked the last chapter as well as the epilogue. They give a nice closure and those warm and fuzzy great feels we all love, so I hope you enjoy these guys’ emotional journey to happiness.
