LENGTH: 311 pages
RELEASE DATE: October 12, 2017
Two lovers from rival packs. Have they come together only to be forced apart?
Alec Knight, a beta in the Regent’s Park pack, guards his heart carefully. Ghosts from his past keep him alone and angry, any hope of a relationship impossible while guilt from the pack wars still haunts him. With the anniversary drawing near, Alec needs a distraction.
As a lowly member of the Primrose Hill pack, Mark Appleton isn’t used to having his alpha’s attention. Lately he’s had more than his fair share, and not for the right reasons. Despite growing suspicions that all is not well, Mark tries hard to do better, but constant criticism leaves him desperate for a stress outlet.
Sex is a good way for shifters to let off steam, and while their packs attack each other with accusations and lies, Alec and Mark work out their frustrations in bed. Pillow talk and shared secrets lead to a closeness neither was expecting, but when pack relations reach an all-time low, any future for them seems out of the question.
If they want to be together, they’ll have to go against their alphas’ wishes—except Alec won’t and Mark can’t.
So, this is the third book in this series and it was Good!! We got to see so… more of Alec and who he is as a character. Alec…wow…the view we got in book two was just the tip of who Alec is. This sweet, caring guy who isn’t the bad guy that we thought he was in book 1. Book three is all about Alec and we see that he’s still haunted by what happened 10 yrs ago. How he was young and gun-ho to fight in the wars and what led to the mission that killed his unit. We see how he struggles every year. How he’s made himself into a better man and just how much he cares for his unit and his pack. I enjoyed seeing more of Alec and getting a better understanding into who he is. I have to say that this man was way more than you thought he was and that was so damn good to see.
Mark…we met him in book two and he’s this young guy who’s caught in a bad situation. His Alpha Newall is the biggest Dillholes around. He’s just trying to survive being under the paw of this tyrant and his lackey. With his talking to Seb and telling the truth…he started events to happen that only bring about trouble in his life. Mark is loyal to his beta, his friends, his pack…but he’s caught up in Alpha Newall’s lies and manipulations. Mark really is a sweet guy who just wants to live in peace. He just wants to someday to have a mate and the bond that he’s now seen. I like that even though Mark is young…he’s not stupid. Yes, he’s a bit reckless when he gets involved with Alec…but he’s not that type of guy…ya know what I mean. He’s not foolish…immature, etc. He’s just a really good guy.
There was so much happening in this story and I have to say that I was really impressed and I was drawn into the story and didn’t put the book down until it was over. I was cheering when all of the secrets, lies and manipulations came out and Alpha Newall and Wes got what was coming to him. I was holding my breath in a few places, wondering how our guys were going to make it out…but Annabelle just kept making sure that the reader stayed glued to the story and I have to say…Job Very Well Done!!
There were plenty of sexy times in this story and they were really HOT!!! But I think it was the way that these two characters to first relieve stress, but then it allowed to them to talk and bond and get things moving in the right direction.
I have to say that one of the best scenes was when Alec and Nathan finally got to talk about Nathan’s parents. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and I was there with them. I just can’t…it was a great scene. I enjoyed the other characters that we got to return and visit as well as the new ones. I got to see Cam again…and I swear…I want him to find someone to love. After all that he’s been through…I just really want him to find love and happiness. I hope that his book is next…HINT, HINT!!
I really enjoyed this story and I have to say that these books are so well written and take you deep into them that you’re a bit sad when it ends. Like…wait…what…it’s over. Well Hell!!!
So, go out and get this book and prepare to fall in love with great characters and fall into a wonderful story.
