Well if you have read A Royal Craving and you would like to know what happens after or be introduced to some of the characters mentioned in it, then this is the book for you. A Royal Promise is an anthology with short novellas that tell us things we want to know.
In A Royal Craving, there was a mention of Prosper and his twin brother Parry’s uncle, Henric. The first short story is about him and I couldn’t be happier. I wanted to know more about this vampire seeing as the twins held him is such disregard regarding a once lover, Jael. We learned that he treated Jael horridly from Jael herself and the twins haven’t forgiven that. But in this short, Wayward Son, we find out the truth. We find out that Henric also isn’t quite as old as everyone thought he was. Henric is actually a sweet sweet vampire with a very sad story of his own. And leave it to Spencer to get to the bottom of it, lol. Henric is actually a character you will grow to adore. He’s intelligent, sweet, and fiercely loyal.
In His Master’s Touch, we learn more about Parry and his lifemate Davian. Once again, Spencer intervened and brought these two together by getting them to pull their heads out of their asses. And these two are just perfect together. They have some obstacles to overcome as they are learning each other but love is locking them together. We see Parry become an even softer vampire now that he has his lifemate and Davian is learning what it means to be equal and not just a servant.
In the Kiss of the Hunter, we meet three new characters which I loved immediately. This story also highlights, Sienna, whom we all love to hate being the conniving little witch she is. Sienna is up to her usual selfish crap, when she is attacked by a witch. She is saved by one of the new characters and immediately is up to her snot-nosed ways. Things begin to happen with more attacks and all are now on the hunt of a villain who is remaining invisible so far. Two of the characters we meet are lifemates which Sienna tries to interfere with and the other is one who finally puts Sienna in her place. He sees Sienna for who she is and does not hesitate to let her know what he thinks. It’s thrilling to watch lol.
Finally, in Prince of the Manor, little Jaycob is more prominent. We learn more about this special little miracle and what he can do. He is truly a special little boy just like his parents, Spencer and Prosper. Spencer and Prosper go through some battles in this one and it’s tough. They are put through the wringer as life throws one curveball after another. But we see the strength in them as they hold together in love and family. We also get to see the true strength of little Jaycob and how perceptive he truly is.
This was a wonderful set of novellas that I am glad we’re written. In so many book, you often wonder what happens to characters and sometimes we are fortunate enough to get a series. Often we are not. I’m so happy to say that we get that in this book. So many characters that came back and new ones that join the mix have made this a wonderful book. We get to see so many things happen and see Spencer work his magic many more times. Happy reading!
