Can college roommates go from friends to lovers?
Kyle: I’m confident that with hard work, my position as point guard can carry me from rural Indiana to the NBA. I also know I’m attracted to guys, but admitting it might disappoint my father, who is all I have in this world. I have big dreams, so I’ll stay in the closet. As long as my life remains scandal-free, I have a shot.
Micah: My large family can’t spare the money to help with my education, but that won’t stop me from studying medicine. I needed to get out of the house I was sharing with my ex before I went insane. Luckily, I heard about a guy looking for a roommate. Living with a straight jock won’t be easy, but it’s a chance I’m willing to take.
Rim Shot is a heartwarming, young adult love story with a very promising happy for now ending. I was glued to my Kindle and loved every minute of this book.
Kyle and Micah’s journey is well built, has a good pace and some moving scenes that give us those great feels. This is an emotional tale of what it means to find true love, discover being gay, and recognize the changing mindset of our young minds. Commitment, love, coming to terms with who we are and what we want in our lives are the main focus of this story and I’m sure you will find as much pleasure in reading it as I did.
We witness the forming friendship between Kyle and Micah and also the way they turn from friends to lovers (my favorite troupe). Skylar Cates is a master storyteller and woven into the plot you get some of the hottest, sexiest, most sensual bedroom scenes ever and the title also gets a whole new meaning while reading some of them. 😉
The writing is amazing. The way the author could inject all the love into the story, how the emotions just shone through make this a memorable read. The love these two guys share is budding and blooming in front of our eyes. The sex scenes are especially well written and are full of the amazing feels we love in our romances. We get to know for sure what making love truly means.
Both MCs’ family angles give the plot-line a wonderful cushion. We get to see two guys from so different backgrounds, two lifelike, real families with flaws but also loving, accepting relationships. I especially love Kyle’s dad and his whole background story. That story-line is very well built, complex, unique and very heartwarming. With the ending and some of the unsolved issues I am hoping these two get a sequel soon.
Rim Shot is a great read for you if you enjoy basketball, coming out anxiety, sizzling hot chemistry and true, young love. Highly recommended.
