I love him…but he’s forgotten why.
A lot can happen in six years, and Ash and Pete have seen their world flipped upside down more times than most. Being parents to Pete’s young nephew wasn’t in their plan, but life happens to them and they roll with the punches. Or at least they did, until new heartache rocks their hard-won happily-ever-after.
Ash loves Pete as much as ever—more, in fact—but Pete battles alone with a burden that weighs heavily on his heart. Ash is no stranger to dark clouds, but the secret Pete keeps from him is a storm that could break them.
Despite the fierce love that once buoyed them, they’re both drowning until a new friend throws them a lifeline. His wisdom offers insight—for better or worse, real love is rarely a smooth journey. For Ash and Pete to come full circle once more, they’ll have to hit the road and chase it.
“Life was never a perfect circle, but the one we had was all ours”
Pete and Ash are a couple who really deserve to get their HEA after everything they went through in Slide and Rare. For those of you expecting them to get their happy quickly and easily in this book you should probably take a deep breath before starting. Garrett Leigh really makes them work hard and puts them through a little bit more angst before they finally – FINALLY – reach that spot.
During our time with these guys we have seen them at their very best and their very worst. There’s not a trauma here but more a slow seeping depression that hits them and sinks it’s teeth into their relationship. There are secrets to be dealt with and that’s something new for a couple who have built their whole relationship on no secrets – ever.
There are new friends, new challenges and a new shape to their made up family. There are realisations that everything is not ok. There is honesty which sometimes hurts but never, not even once, did I feel as though they wouldn’t make it. This final pain that they were put through saw their relationship grow once again, they became steadier and as they came full circle once again they ended up in a much better place than when they started. They ended up happy.
If you haven’t read the Roads series by Garrett Leigh then why not? I cannot recommend it highly enough.
