The rules of the game don’t apply off the field in this first Barons novel.
New York Barons tight end Gavin Brawley is suspended from the team and on house arrest after a video of him brawling goes viral. Gavin already has a reputation as a jerk with a temper on and off the field—which doesn’t help him once he finds himself on the wrong side of the law. And while he’s been successful professionally, he’s never been lucky when it comes to love.
Noah Monroe is a recent college grad looking for a job—any job—to pay off his mounting student debt. Working as Gavin’s personal assistant/babysitter seems like easy money. But Noah isn’t prepared for the electrifying tension between him and the football player. He’s not sure if he’d rather argue with Gavin or tackle him to the floor. But both men know the score, and neither is sure what will happen once Gavin’s timeout is over…
There were so many things that I loved about this book. Not that I’m surprised at all. I’d read the phone book if it was written by Santino Hassell. I love this author…and have thoroughly enjoyed all the books I’ve read so it comes as no surprise that I adored Illegal Contact. This book is special and an absolutely fantastic start to a series that I’m really excited about.
Superstar football player Gavin Brawley lands himself on house arrest after assaulting someone. All Gavin has ever wanted was to play football. He’s made his dreams come true and then some. He’s famous, rich, bisexual, and angry. The thought of his 6 month exile drives him crazy. On the urgency of his lawyer Gavin hires a live-in personal assistant to help keep Gavin’s life in order.
Things start off really rocky between Gavin and his personal assistant, Noah. Noah intrigues Gavin and pushes Gavin to be better, do better and the attraction just gets more intense the longer these two are together.
Noah refuses to get involved with his boss. Been there, done that and it didn’t work out well for him at all. But there’s something about Gavin and Noah can’t help the pull he feels towards him.
This is the perfect amount of slow burn that ignites to an inferno as soon as these two really give in. I loved the build up and I loved the transformation in both men throughout the book.
This story was magic and I cannot get enough of the side characters. Not to mention Gavin…!!! Loved Gavin…what an amazing character…loved all his layers. Him and Noah together just made me smile…they brought out the best in each other and the touching tender moments were just an impactful as the surface of the sun scorching moments.
This is one of those books where you will need to read it over and over…absolutely fantastic!
