BLURB:
Twenty-nine-year-old Lucas Thompson is at the top of the corporate ladder. But when his lifelong friend and ex-boyfriend invites him to his last-minute destination wedding in the Bahamas, Lucas realizes his corporate success can’t hide his private loneliness. Nor will he be able to escape seeing his family at the wedding and having to explain, yet again, why he is rich, handsome and still single.
Fate and a taxi ride change everything when Lucas meets the charismatic and clever Jack McQueen, who just so happens to be a male escort. Jack’s presence on Lucas’ arm at the wedding keeps questions at bay, but their pretend relationship turns into something more after 10 days of sun, sand, and sex. And before the trip is over, both men will discover that what started as a simple escapade in paradise might just lead to their very own happily ever after.
REVIEW:
After reading the blurb for Escapade, I was intrigued to listen to the audiobook. Tho it took quite a while to get into the book, I very much liked the story. The audiobook? Not so much. After having to stop an hour into the audiobook, I bought the ebook to read and was much happier with that format. Which is too bad, because I am an audiobook junkie.
As a successful businessman, Lucas Thompson can pretty much buy anything he wants. The problem here is that, as the saying goes, money can’t buy everything. It can’t fill the loneliness that he feels, nor can it buy him a lifelong companion to be by his side. Okay, I take that last part back; It can actually buy him a companion. Sort of. Especially since he will need one with him in order to attend the elaborate tropical destination wedding that Lucas’ best friend/ ex boyfriend has just invited him to. But, where would he find such a companion?
Queue the lovely, Jack McQueen. Young, lithe, and mind numbingly gorgeous, Jack is also a successful Escort. And, after bumping into each other while trying to take the same taxi, it seems Lucas can’t get Jack off of his mind. Or, as it seems, out of his life. After running into Jack at a work function, Lucas decides to meet and discuss the possibility of bringing the sexy Escort to masquerade as his boyfriend for a week while on a tropical vacation to celebrate a wedding.
As the tropical vacation goes on, both Lucas and Jack learn more and more about each other, and their relationship develops from all business to something much more personal. Lucas’ family is absolutely smitten with Jack, and Lucas himself has a harder and harder time seeing his life without Jack in it. But is it all an illusion? What will happen when the vacation is over and it’s time to go home?
Escapade was a lovely story, with wonderful cast of characters. It was a little hard to get into at first, but totally worth the wait if you are patient enough. Unfortunately, the audio did not work for me. But, that doesn’t mean that it won’t work for you. Will this be my first and last Noah Mason narrated book? No, I’m happy to give him another listen. Will this be my first and last Dolce book? Heaven’s no! Once Escapade hit its stride for me, I found it hard to put down. To both Dolce and Noah Mason, thank you for putting yourself and talents out there for everyone to experience. I truly admire you both
Because of the difference between the story and narration I gave this story to seperate ratings.
