TITLE: Ready For Love
SERIES: Semper Fi, The Forever Faithful #1
AUTHOR: Stella Starling
PUBLISHER: Self Published
RELEASE DATE: May 18th, 2017
Jake Hansen has been crushing on Gabe Byrne for half his life, but since Gabe is a straight, self-proclaimed commitment-phobe who moved away years ago to join the Marines, that crush is strictly a fantasy-best-enjoyed-in-private. And even when Gabe starts to flirt with him like crazy, Jake still knows better than to think it means anything.
Because falling in love with your straight bestie? Not just a cliche, but a guaranteed recipe for disaster.
Growing up, Gabe never saw “Little Jakey” as anything more than the kid who always liked to tag along after him and his brothers, but somehow, being friends with Jake has become the best part of his day. And after a seven-month deployment? Seeing Jake is the one thing he’s looking forward to the most.
He just didn’t expect that hanging out in person again would be so confusing… or keep blurring the lines about just how straight he is… or keep making him want things that he never thought he would.
Things that seem a lot like forever.
I’ve read a few Stella Starling books and I have to say I think this may be my absolute favorite. This was the perfect amount of super sweet, mild angst, mega-hot, and absolutely delicious. This author has created a whole new spinoff involving some pretty interesting characters from a prior series. I know there are tons of issues around the GFY/OFY genres but they still remain to be some of my most favorite. And this story doesn’t disappoint at all.
Gabe Byrne’s whole life is his military career. He’s not looking for the perfect woman and he’s not looking to settle down any time soon. As his brothers are his friends find their matches Gabe still doesn’t feel the pull of forever.
Jake has had the biggest crush on Gabe for as long as he can remember. Knowing that Gabe is straight helps him keep it all into perspective. That is until Gabe starts hinting at maybe friends with benefit type of deal between them.
Gabe has never been interested in men until he starts seeing his childhood friend Jake in another light. Trying to keep things light between them what starts as super hot sex quickly morphs into feelings both men want to deny but just can’t.
This story centers on Jake and Gabe both realizing what they mean to each other but there are a lot of familial factors also going on. This is full of side characters from other books, hints at possible MC’s in future books and an incredibly strong supporting cast that really solidify the whole story and make it just that much more special.
Anyone who is a fan of Stella Starling and really just super sweet, mildly angsty romance will absolutely love this first book in a very promising series.
I can’t wait for book 2…recommend!
