REVIEW:

What an absolutely wonderful story. I loved every minute of it. If you are looking for a story full of love and finding yourself, this is the story for you.

Elliot is miserable with city life. It’s lost it glamour and appeal. The only thing keeping him grounded there is his partner, Mick, but Mick isn’t out and it’s one more thing Elliot is tired of. He loves Mick with every fiber of his being, but he can’t be forced to go back into a closet he was beaten out of himself. He finally decides he’s had enough.

I cried off and on in this book because you feel so bad for Elliot. He doesn’t want to leave Mick and Mick is in AGONY with Elliot leaving for a while, but things are just too much. He needs space away from city life and from all the stress he is having to endure. Especially after an incident at the school where he teaches.

The relationship between these two is heartbreaking in so many ways because they love each other so much but Elliot needs to find his way on his own. He no longer knows who he is and every little things seems to trigger a panic attack. While reading this, you can see the parallels with everyday life and how people struggle to find themselves and yet keep their relationships going. It’s so hard and takes some work, and you get the realisticness of life while reading this because life sometimes is just hard.

Elliot is my favorite character, although I love Mick almost as much. Elliot is someone you can’t help but love and you root for him in every way in this book as he struggles with everyday life and learns to find peace with himself and the world. He is a beautiful character because he doesn’t give up. He keeps going no matter what comes his way. Even if it means running for a little bit to sort out his life. In the end, love brings things together. And if the love is true, and in this story it is, then the work is worth it.

I think anyone who reads this will love it as much as I did. At least I hope. It’s a story of struggle for love and peace and acceptance. This will definitely stay in my to be read again piles.
