REVIEW:
I love this series. It gives a more playful and softer view of shifters and I love that the author took a different approach from the highly sexualize shifter stories that seem to dominate the genre. Don’t get me wrong, there is sex and it is HOT, but it was not the sole focus nor was it a requirement to indicate love. It was a natural part of a relationship.
Switch Hitter was a slow burn friends to lovers romance. Most of the story was focused on both men coming to terms with themselves and determining what they want in life. Dixon comes at things from a life of privilege, yet he has to find his footing in a world where all he ever wanted was love. Tucker on the other side, came from nothing and yearns to never go back. His self discovery of his sexuality threatens all he has ever known while also throwing his childhood into a new light. Tucker has a lot of soul searching to do before be and Dixon can ever think about being more than friends.
And that soul searching was well done and appropriate. Tucker and Dixon’s mating turned out to be much more meaningful because the author showed me how they fought their internal battles and how they developed a great friendship while they were figuring things out. When love happened, it was heartfelt and utterly satisfying.
I am looking forward to more from this series. It is fun and funny and downright warm and fuzzy. I loved the playful banter and the ending that left me saying “awwww” with a tear of happiness in my eye.
