I did not find any reviews on the blog for The Cadeleonian Series by Ginn Hale. I loved that series and highly recommend it for fantasy fans.

Some favorite I would love to see get more attention are Richard Rider and John T. Fuller. They’ve only self-published so they don’t get that mainstream push. Richard Rider has a trilogy, the Stockholm Syndrome series, that I think fans of Aleksandr Voinov’s Dark Soul series would really eat up. Another of his is a lovely historical, Captured Shadows, that centers Victorian erotic photography. John T. Fuller also has a historical, this one set in an asylum where a doctor falls for his mute patient, and it is sordid and tender. And it just so happens, plot twist!, that they are friends in real life and wrote a magnificent short story collection called The Trojan Project that runs the gamut of types of stories and characters and has a cover that throws many people but goes along with their cheeky British humour.

Thank you for giving me a chance to voice my recommendation for their writing, as they’ve honestly gained my admiration for it over and over. And finally thank you to everyone at Love Bytes for this wonderful celebration and for all the time and work you put into making this site a great place to visit. May your next read be a great one!

I love your blog the way it is, so it is really difficult to find something to improve. But what I like most is finding new authors, so maybe you should look for authors who do not get that much promotion but are really good… I’ve found a few of them in Goodreads, really amazing writers who do not get promotion, and I guess that’s why they are not widely read (I’m thinking about authors like Kasia Bacon or Justine Sebastian, but there are many others… That’s just the two who came to my mind first).
Your blog is so good. Thank you for the great work!

Thanks for asking, but I’m not sure I can add anything specific. I would suggest something to go with your tag of LGBTQ Book Reviews. I may be mistaken, but I have found it curious, and surprised, that books you review and make top lists, and those in such awards as Lambda, Rainbow, EPIC, etc, seem to be mostly different books, with few matches even if you consider just the m/m, gay books. I’m not sure why, but I might suggest looking into some of those types of books.

Some authors I really like who don’t seem to be as present as many others…
… Gillian St. Kevern. Loved her Thorns and Fangs books.
… Kate Pavelle. Enjoyed book 1+3 of her Steel City series a lot.
… T.J. Land. Their Villainous Love Stories are hilarious. The space series Adrift was also quite fun.

In general I’m always happy to discover new authors with interesting stories and concepts. There are names that are all over the internet, where you know what you’ll get. If you like one of these authors you know, when new books will be released and you’ll most likely buy their stories no matter what. Recognition of books by unknown or newer authors often get lost among new releases by well established ones.
That’s why I’m happy, when sites like lovebytesreviews also review books that are not so “mainstream” for me to discover. Thanks!

Have you considered reviewing yaoi books, if not the manga then the novels; like Saki Aida’s S series for example? Just a thought. 🙂

I would love to see some reviews on books that were published before the millennium.
The m/m genre is growing and a lot more people (because of internet/ereaders etc) are reading and discovering gay romance it would be nice to see some of the older books get a spotlight on blogs like Love Bytes Reviews

It would be great to learn about authors who don’t have the promotion muscle of an agent or publisher behind them…maybe some of the current authors know of people?

I haven’t seen many reviews for new self-published authors. I think it might be nice to feature someone new at least once a week if not more. Suggested authors: Nora Sakavic, E. Davies, Max Hudson, Casey Cameron, Eola Eden, etc.

I like reviews and/or author interviews with self-published authors. They might not have the sources for much promotion. Spotlighting them in the blog would help them along.

There’s so many new self-published authors lately thst it’s hard to get a good idea if they are something worth reading. Maybe a once a week rrview of a new self-published author would be good.

I agree with all the above, and love your site – I’ve gotten to know your reviewers a bit, know which ones’ reviews i most closely agree with – great when there are so many books out there and I have a limited budget! I was thinking it would be interesting to do a “If you loved this, try this” bit – could help to sort thru all these weekly offerings, and discover new authors without the risk. Anyway, you’re doing a fantastic job – I look forward to your messages in my inbox each day!

Since it is made a movie, with Arnie Hammer, no less, why don’t you review “Call Me By Your Name” by Andre Aciman? It might fall into LGBT literature more than traditional MM romance but I am curious with what the reviewers here think about it 🙂

Someone suggested yaoi novels and that would be nice. There’s one Orochi no Kishi that’s a great book. I also agree about the self-pub authors that cannot promote like those that publish with a publisher. There’s a pretty good book The Oaf Prince by Sienna Sway and I never saw a review of that book on any blog.
