AMBER’S REVIEW:
I know I’ve said it about a million bazillion times and I’ll say it again Melanie Hansen is the best at what she does. Everything she writes I absorb into my soul. I love her writing and her writing style. As an author she’s writes perfection and See My Words proves that beautifully. I loved Pieces of Me (review) and book 2 picks right back up with the story. What I adored most is seeing Rylan and Scott as a couple. I loved how Rylan could have walked away from Scott so many times because let’s not kid ourselves Scott was an ASS to him but Rylan wouldn’t give up on him and I loved it.
After Scott’s assault in the parking lot in book 1 he has to go through weeks and weeks of recovery. Replaced at his job and watching his biggest dream slip through his fingers leaves Scott severely depressed. Scott’s saving grace is Rylan. Rylan doesn’t put up with Scott’s temperamental behavior. Every time Scott pushes Rylan away that makes Rylan even more eager to tear down Scott’s walls. I LOVED how Rylan refused to give up on Scott. LOVED!
What book 1 lacked in the romance side, this book makes up for it in spades. Rylan and Scott gave me all the feels in this book. It was HOT and so incredibly sweet. Both men try so hard to be what the other needs and it was amazing to watch them go from some pretty awful circumstances to a happy, hopeful, peaceful place.
Another caveat to this story is the secondary characters. Melanie Hansen does so many things right and one of those things is her development of secondary characters. I loved the others in this book so much. Minh stole my heart right from book 1. I loved how he protected Scott and vice versa. I also thoroughly enjoyed Chris in this book. I wanted to dislike him…because come on competition?? But I didn’t. I couldn’t. Both men I adored.
This book was amazing. The writing, characters, everything was amazing. This book really makes you believe in unconditional love, true love, and second chances.
ABSOLUTLEY recommend the series….!!!

First of all See My Words cannot be read as a standalone as it’s not a new story but a continuation of a story that started in Pieces of Me and introduced us to Scott and Rylan. Stepbrothers thrown together by circumstance but all too quickly torn apart this part of their story picks up exactly where we left them when Scott has just been attacked in the Spectrum Car Park. His subsequent recovery changes everything – his plans with Mc2 fall through, he falls out of favour with the club and for the first time in years, possibly the first time in forever, Scott has to depend on someone and it doesn’t go well.
There is a lot of going backwards and forwards as Scott and Rylan try to find their places in each other lives again and not all of it is pretty. Scott is like a bear with a sore head whilst he recovers and for a man that relies on his pretty boy looks and other people’s admiration being bruised and battered leaves him in a poor mood and a dark place. Rylan almost bends over backwards in his attempts to placate, please and help Scott and their relationship dissolves into something very unbalanced and not at all healthy. There was a large portion of this book where I really didn’t like Scott and half hoped Rylan would just get up and walk away from him and at one point Chris seemed like a good and better option.
Scott’s behaviour does change and so do his priorities but he is definitely a work in progress for most of the story. Rylan also has some growing up to do, he can’t be a saviour forever, and by the end both men have learnt a lot about themselves and each other and are finally at a place where they can look forward to a future together.
