Minimum words counts would sometimes be tricky for me because sometimes I have a difficult time finding things to say about what I did or didn’t like the books I’ve read.

Great question, and great answers. I always have to restrain myself to keep my reviews from looking like the first chapter of War and Peace….

Thank you for the question and the answers. It is hard to write a review without spoilers, because these are the parts you like or dislike. But as you say the more you write the easier (a bit) it gets.

What I like about the review blogs is that any plot summary is usually clearly separated from the review.
i get a bit exasperated (and try not to in my own) when reading reviews that just regurgitate the plot – I can usually find that in the blurb, I need to know what made it a good or bad read for the reviewer so I can figure out to buy or not

Thank you for the answers. I just let the words flow and don’t bother with a minimum or maximum. I do have a a tendency to write them a little longer than I want but it is what it is.

I tend to write tersely, so a minimum might be hard (especially if I’m dealing with a short book).

Minimum 300 words. Wow! While I usually like to ramble, I sometimes find it hard to talk in length about a certain book. Some books just don’t convey enough story/meaning/interesting things for me. I don’t really mind short reviews as long as they are concise.
It’s nice to see there are others who are not too fond of gifs and pics. That’s the one thing I really don’t like about goodreads. It’s just cluttering your page and often not really helpful.

Thanks, and I’m so happy about your answering my question, b/c I was enlightened. I showed my naivete by asking about how to keep a review shorter, not longer (thus the minimum req). I can have a lot of thoughts I want to comment on, but I’m afraid of not being helpful if there’s too much (so like Vicki, I go back and cut; but also, like Dan, for lower ratings I want to be sure to explain why). I appreciate everyone avoiding spoilers, and also your focus on providing useful info.

I think I am a bit similar to Cindy. I mean sure there are moments when I find myself babbling about books usually if I either love them or hate them. But most of the times I think my reviews tend to be on a shorter side as I have problems explaining things *lol*
