Released after five years in the system for assault, streetwise Edgar-Allen Church is ready to leave the past behind and finally look to his future. In need of a place to crash, he’s leaning on Miller Quinn. A patient, solidly masculine pillar of strength and support, Miller has always been there for him—except in the one way Church has wanted the most.
With his staunchly conservative upbringing, Miller has been playing it straight his whole life. Now with Church so close again, it’s getting harder to keep his denial intact. As they fumble their way back to friendship after so many years apart, Miller struggles to find the courage to accept who he really is. What he has with Church could be more than desire—it could be love. But it could also mean trouble.
Church’s criminal connections are closing in on the both of them, and more than their hearts are at risk. This time, their very lives are on the line.
REVIEW:
Definitely one of my favorite books of the year, so far. I have been eagerly awaiting Loose Cannon since the end of Bad Judgment. Immediately, the snippet intrigues me and I knew I’d fall in love with Church, Tobias, and Ghost….and not surprising, I did just that. These characters that Sidney Bell wrote are loyal, steadfast friends that would do anything for each other. I loved the loyalty and the bond they formed. The relationship between Miller and Church was front and center but the friendship these men have was also integral to the story.
Church and Miller go back a long way. Church has never had it easy but the only peace he’s ever known has been with Miller, his seemingly straight best friend. After a pretty big misunderstanding Church finds himself in a juvenile rehabilitation facility trying to get his life together. There he meets and forms a lifelong bond with Tobias and Ghost but he never forgets Miller.
Flash- forward a few years Church is out and turns to Miller to help him get back on his feet. The bond they have is still as strong as ever and Miller’s denial and the walls he’s built start to crumble when he realizes he feels more for Church than just friendship. Navigating their feelings proves treacherous for both men especially since Church’s new job causes undue stress and turns extremely dangerous.
I love this author. There are not enough words for me to come up with that shows how much I loved this story. I’m so incredibly excited to see what this author has in store for this series. The possibilities make me so happy.
Amazing writing, unbelievable characters, heartbreaking moments. Incredible passion, this story has it all.
Incredible.
Recommend.
