BLURB:
Cameron Rheingold is the kind of guy who takes a book to a bar. He’s a loner by nature, but he has to engage with the community to keep his movie theater business afloat. When two young men stay after a Cary Grant film showing to chat, Cameron thinks he might have made some new friends—but their interest is more than friendly.
Josh is charismatic, and every smile is a little bit seductive. Keith is sweet and kind, with a core of steel Cameron can sense even when Keith’s on his knees. Cameron is willing to be the couple’s kinky third, but that’s it. He refuses to risk complicating things with his growing devotion, even if being with Josh and Keith feels more right than anything else ever has.
When the three of them are attacked by the killer roaming La Vista, Cameron must decide what’s more important: pretending the assault never happened and he’s the same loner he used to be, or coming clean to Josh and Keith about how much he loves them, even if they can never return his feelings.
This book can be read on its own, or enjoyed as the fourth book in the Queers of La Vista series.
REVIEW:
I have to say that this book was one that took me a few days to get through. The reason isn’t why it would normally take for me to take a couple of days. This book just called to me that I needed to go slow. I’m really glad that I did. This story held so many elements that I was drawn into the story and hopeful about the outcome.
Cameron is this really sweet, socially awkward guy who is really a loner. He enjoys his time away from people. He’s the guy at the bar having one drink and reading on his phone. He is really this sweet, wonderful guy who just makes me smile in his social awkwardness. However, he’s so excited when he meets Josh and Keith. He thinks that he’s making two new friends who are special only to him.
Josh and Keith…I couldn’t not put them together as they are a couple in this book and you don’t see one without the other, which is really kinda sweet. These two men have been together for 3 years and their relationship is Rock-Solid. I like that they are this established couple who have the love and capacity for allowing another person in their lives. Not only that, but these two guys are the owners and operators of the Queer Youth Program (QYP) in their city. Keith is still in college and just turned 21. Josh is the older of the two at 24. These guys are so damn sweet and kind and they are really good guys. They really Love each other and that love comes through at all times in this story.
I have to say that this sweet story is slow burn and yet, it really works. It’s really interesting and sweet the way the guys woo Cameron…and boy, does it take some wooing. Cameron is shocked and interested when Josh and Keith come on to him. He’s sweet and really confused and clueless as to why they would want him. I really liked that Cameron wanted to make sure that he never got in between their relationship. I liked that Keith really took the time and initiative to get to know Cameron and let him get to know him.
There were sexy times in this story and I truly felt that it only added to the story and never detracted from the story. It only enhanced the relationship between the three of them and set a tone for how the relationship will progress.
There was a really good mystery going on in this story and as I’ve not read the other 3 stories, I’m not sure if this story was on-going, however, it was really well done and once it started getting good…I was hooked. To find who the killer was and their motivation…wow…great job!!
Overall, I really liked this story and the characters that were in it. A Great Read and Well Worth The Time.
