Spooky Christmas

 

I realise some might find it odd that I’ve written a vampire story for a Christmas anthology. But here’s the thing: I love spookiness at Christmas. In fact, Spooky Christmas has become a kind of tradition, in our house.

 

I mean, think about it. The nights get colder and darker. Creepy mist starts billowing over the moors. And I don’t care what anyone says – fairy lights are creepy, okay? They make everything seem glittery and shadowy at the same time. Anything could be lurking in amongst those presents.

 

Though even if it isn’t, Spooky Christmas is still the best.

 

You get snuggled down in a nice thick duvet, with your mug of warm mulled wine. Then you put on some BBC drama about a woman who just inherited a massive house from her dead mum, and hey presto. Everything is awesome.

 

Spooky Christmas is awesome.

 

Honestly, try it. Get the soundtrack for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and listen to it while writing terrible poetry about Gary Oldman. You’ll see what I mean. Or watch some period drama that might have a ghost in it, as the wind howls against your windows and you eat all the chocolates your Nan got you.

 

You can’t go wrong. The marriage of spookiness and Christmas is a blissful one. It’s horror and joy. Scariness and sweetness. Tinsel and terror. Like eating a spoonful of peanut butter with a spoonful of Nutella – nothing can beat it.

 

And that’s why I wrote this book.

 

 

About Frostbitten

 

Shy nurse Cora both dreads and lives for the moments she sees Zeke, an orderly at the hospital where she works. Zeke is too handsome, too compelling, too much, and seems totally unaware of Cora. And more and more happy to abandon her old life in exchange for an eternity with two hot immortal lovers. All she has to do is convince Merrick and Zeke that being a vampire isn’t all that bad.
