Thank you for the post, Amy. I love dogs. I’ve always had a dog in my parents house (in my own flat I have a cat, because of building restrictions). My last dog died last Christmas, and I’m still trying to recover from the shock. It was really painful, but we had to put him down because he was very ill. He was my best buddy, my companion, the one who always waited awake for me… I miss him so much!

I’m so sorry. It’s a tough loss–always. (Although my daughter likes to remind me that we lost Chiquita AND her great grandmother in the same month, while she was away at school. She still blames me and can’t decide which one was most painful.)

They’re EVERYWHERE. Actually, we had an encampment of homeless people about a two blocks away, and, yes, every winter, we could smell cooking turkey about once a week.

Oh, I hope you enjoy it! (And there is actually a cat in this story, based on my daughter’s cat. I posted Val’s story– “Diary of an Angry Calico” on Alpha Books today.)

My friend’s pit bull sat on my lap and made out with me for an HOUR. She weighs like, seventy pounds. You MUST love something that big, and that powerful, who thinks it’s a lapdog.

Thank you for sharing your story. I enjoy a dog story although I’m not as friendly with dogs. I just don’t have the exposure.

Thanks for sharing your dog love. Although I have a cat, I can relate to your loss & pain since I had to do the same with one of my beloved. *hugs*

I just lost one of my dogs, so this post was sort of hard for me, but in a very Amy Lane-esque way, it was uplifting too. I thought this was a beautiful way to honor Chiquita, even Geoffie and Johnnie too. Thank you. peachescon(at)gmail(dot)com
