Love Will Always Conquer

I would by lying if I said I wasn’t still reeling from the results of the election a few days ago. I know most members of the m/m community are. Scrolling through Facebook, it’s clear people are devastated, and trust me, I feel that devastation. I am not American, and so I did not have a voice in choosing the outcome of the polls, but I cried right along with you on Wednesday morning. I woke up to a different world. I felt the shift immediately.

The future is unsure. It’s a game of wait and see, and from everything I’ve seen, there is not much hope that the fight for equality for members of the LGBTQIA family, for women, or for POC will gain much ground in the next four years. But in the wake of this heartbreaking turn of events, all I can do is fall back on what I know. I read and write romance. Yes, there is an element of escapism there and that’s probably something we could all use a little of right now, but more than that is the prevailing theme that love conquers all.

I truly believe it does.

The next four years are all but guaranteed to be tumultuous, and there will be hills we must climb and ground we must defend. I will be right there fighting alongside you. In the meantime, I will continue to write stories where love overcomes all obstacles, where to people can meet and even through the unlikeliest of circumstances emerge through the other side to their happily ever after.

To help spread a little love, I’ll be giving away some codes for free audiobooks today.

Comment below, then enter here for your chance to win one of these books from audible. I will choose five winners at random a week from now.

Be safe and love one another,

Cate

I hope people continue on with their momentum to resist those who wish to undo the progress we’ve made. Many people are concerned about people’s freedoms, but don’t forget about the environment also. He’s setting up to dismantle environmental protections.

We must stay true to our hearts and fight for the rights we believe in. And pray a heckuva lot!

I think that one of the most important things to remember is to continue to be kind to one another. One of the best things about the romance community is how much we support each other. That must not change.

I too am so disappointed with the election results and can only hope that we don’t start a backwards slide.

Thank you for offering a little bright spot with your offer!

Thanks for the offer. I’ve been crying off & on for days. I’m so worried about what can/will happen to my son’s freedom & rights. Less worried about my own.

I feel so hopeless and am definitely taking the escapism route.

It’s been a spectacularly shit week following one of the best weeks where the CUBS won the World Series. Talk about your roller coaster of emotions. Kate McKinnon’s opening of SNL and Dave Chapelle’s monologue helped a little. I hope things get better in the days to come, but I’m incorporating a new motto – I am no longer accept the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept – Dr. Angela Davis.

It is not only members of the m/m community, or the LGBTQ community who are reeling, but all decent Americans who see each person as worthy of love, respect and equality. I only hope that his showmanship took over common sense and now that he has ‘won’ he’ll develop a conscience. Naive perhaps, but I’m optimistic. If I were pessimistic or even realistic, I might not get out of bed each morning. Instead I’m going to volunteer with disenfranchised youth and hopefully make a difference in the future direction our country takes.
