REVIEW:

At first, I wasn’t to sure about Gambling Men, based solely off of the blurb. Then, I decided to take a chance and listen to the audiobook. I am so glad I took that chance! Not only did the book itself blow me away, Gomez Pugh’s performance was fantastic!

At a young age, Jace was taught by his uncle that you can learn all you need to know about life by playing poker. And, this is how he views the world as an adult; thru a deck of cards. Whether it is in the office, or at home, the rules of poker are paramount in Jace’s life. Quent views the world a bit differently than his best friend Jace, but that has never deterred either of them from forming such a tight bond with each other upon meeting way back in college.

After eight years of friendship, Jace realizes that Quent is his winning hand in life and sets out to make Quent his king.

Jace and Quent are now one of my favorite couples of all time. The way they love each other is beautiful. The interaction between the two is sometimes silly, sometimes stressful, but always real and palpable. Tho, I must confess that my favorite scene in this book has got to be the poker game where Jace and Quent come out to their friends. It is quite the.. Erm.. Well, they definitely come out without having to actually say they’re lovers.

Amy Lane, you absolutely floor me with every one of your books I get my hands on. Gambling Men is no exception! And, Gomez Pugh, holy buckets you are awesome! Gomez masterfully captured the essence of this book and translated it into a brilliant performance filled with energy and passion. This book and performance is easily in my top favorites of all time. Hopefully, after listening to it yourself, it will be one of your favorites as well. Honestly, I highly recommend this book. Especially if you are skeptical about trying an audiobook for the first time. This may actually be the book that sparks your impending audiobook addiction. *I sure hope it does!
