Marshall and Ben believe their mate, Jakob, has been killed. When Jakob escapes from a cult, there is nothing that will stop them from reclaiming him.
The second book in the Reclamation series follows along much like the first book did. Jakob was abducted and squirreled away from his mates under the mistaken impression that they didn’t want him anymore. After years of being tortured to get rid of his inner wolf and ‘atone for his sins’ he’s sent back out into the world to find his mates and ask their forgiveness. While the basic set up and story line were the same between the first and second books, there were some new tidbits offered as the series winds its way towards unraveling the mystery of just who is behind the abduction and torture of innocent shifters.
I liked the three main characters as you could distinctly see what each man brought to their mating but I do wish there had been more time to get to know them individually a bit more. I felt sorry for Jakob and all he’d been through and you could see the devastation his two mates were struggling with, both with the fact that they’d thought Jakob had died and later when they realize what had really happened. The reconnection between the mates in this book seemed to go a little faster than in the previous story and Jakob also seemed to come back to himself faster but that could be attributed to the fact that he was mated to two other men instead of just one, I guess. Either way, I enjoyed watching the men reconnect with each other and the sex scenes offered a nice variety and balance between them all.
I’m still enjoying the series and as the plot with the cult and who’s behind it thickens, I find myself more intrigued; the next book looks to be a different set up than these first two, as well, so that should bring an interesting twist to things. If you enjoy shifter books and enjoy a bit of hurt/comfort with your sexy times this book could be right for you. I found the overall storyline enjoyable but I would recommend reading this series in order as there is information you need to understand things given in the first book but not the second.
