Terrell Hubbard, decorated Marine sergeant, proudly serves as Beta wolf to his True Alpha and Dominant. During a mission, he meets Staff Sergeant Kai Thayer, Pack Leader of the Camp Fallujah sippe. Terrell is thrown completely off balance by the strength of their mutual attraction and the intensity of their passion. His entire world felt perfect though, each time they came together to mark and claim one another.
In the chaos of a surprise attack Kai shows poor judgement, driving a wedge between Terrell and him, and landing Kai on the True Alpha’s bad side. Terrell is torn between his ferocious loyalty to his True Alpha, and his new but powerful feelings for Kai. In the battle’s aftermath, Terrell and Kai are drawn together in passion, hoping it’s not the final chance to mark their claims.
I think what’s very obvious is that this was without a doubt an appetizer. I think Kendall McKenna may in fact be a genius. With less than 100 pages she has made me want the FULL Kai and Terrell story so bad I can’t even deal with it. From reviews I knew this was going to be short so I wasn’t bothered by that at all. I’ll honest and say I really enjoyed this little taste of something great to come.
Terrell and Kai meet in an active war zone. Emotions are high from the beginning because it’s obvious they both are extremely attracted to the other. Giving into the attracting satisfies both for the time being. Kai makes a pretty bad judgment call which forces Terrell to reevaluate pretty much everything when it comes to Kai.
The ending was left wide open here. It really could go either way so I’m looking forward to see what Kendall McKenna does with this story. Technically all the great elements are here that I love in this author. The story flowed, solid writing, hot sex, dominance galore…so good!!
I liked this short story and I can’t wait for more. I appreciate the author releasing because it’s totally amped up my anticipation.
