The path to temptation is paved with a hellish amount of paperwork.
Soul acquisition is a drag, but if Abaddon doesn’t catch up on his quota, he could be demoted to scooping poop for the Hounds of Hell. With a deadline hanging over him, he heads for the Bible Belt, looking for the perfect combination of sweetness and challenge.
Seth is a blind musician, part of a traveling tent revival. He’s cute, mystically talented, and quotes the Bible at every turn. His soul is pure enough to fill Abaddon’s quota for months to come, and Abaddon is determined to claim it.
The problem? There’s the revival foreman who watches Abaddon’s every move. Then there’s the mystery of Seth’s many unusual talents. Lastly, there’s Abaddon himself. He’s beginning to like Seth a bit too much. Maybe Seth deserves something better than damnation.
But Hell’s agenda isn’t negotiable, and time is running out. If Abaddon doesn’t play his cards right, he could condemn both of them to the worst fate of all—an eternity apart.
REVIEW:
There was so much cuteness and sweetness to this story. It’s almost shocking because well its main character is a devil. You’d expect more drama, deceit, and angst but this story isn’t that at all. This story was at times refreshingly sweet and fun. I loved the humor here. You wouldn’t expect there to be so many LOL moments but I did chuckle quite a bit.
Abaddon is probably one of the worst Devil’s in soul acquisitions. Knowing that his job is to take souls he absolutely hates doing it but knows he has to. On the hunt he finds Seth and immediately loses his heart.
Seth is a true believer of God and all His glory. He sees the absolute best in everyone and everything including Abaddon.
Seth and Abaddon are remarkable together. Abaddon was already unlike most Devils’ but Seth brought out the best in him.
This is mythical, paranormal, magical and supernatural. There were so many unique elements to this story I really think most readers who are into paranormal good vs. evil stories would enjoy this one.
Marie Sexton writing is so well developed you get sucked in pretty early into this story. You’re always thinking what’s going to happen? How’s this going to work? What’s going to happen next? You’re kind of on the edge of your seat in that aspect.
Overall, sweet story with an incredibly cute HEA, recommend.
