REVIEW:
What originally drew me to this story was the setting; I’ve never read anything that takes place in India before and I was intrigued. I will have to admit that the setting and descriptions were the best part of the story for me; everything just seemed so vibrant and at times it felt as though I were walking the streets along with Duncan. The story itself was okay but it just didn’t draw me in like I was hoping it would. While both Duncan and Akash felt a draw towards the other, I would’ve liked to have seen that explored at more depth…it just felt as though it wasn’t touched on enough.
I did really enjoy the shifter aspect of the story and how the Matriarch had so much power over the rest of her family as I’ve never seen something like that in a shifter story before. Like I said before though, the story itself was just okay. I did enjoy it but I found myself putting it down a lot to go do something else before coming back and reading a few more pages. The ending was good and leaves me with a nice resolution but I think I would’ve found more impact with it if the confrontation hadn’t been resolved so quickly. I’m glad I read this for the unique setting alone and did like the story but the end but it isn’t something I’ll be rushing off to read again anytime soon.
