BLURB:
Life is full of twists, turns and changes. The choices we make can dramatically alter the path we walk, and the people who walk it with us. This series follows seven women, all lesbians as well as friends, as their lives climb, spiral, and swerve. Sometimes even falling apart around them. At the end, will they all remain friends or will their choices take them down such different roads they lose each other?
Lux has been on a downward spiral in her personal life for several years, not that she’s recognized her behavior as such. Her developing feelings for a member of her circle of friends has the ability to send her into a panic, rushing into the arms of whoever happens to be available. Can she accept the rapidly deepening emotions before they tear her apart? Does she have what it takes to commit? Will her behavior as she comes to terms with it all cause a fracture in the friendships she’s always known?
REVIEW:
This story had a lot more steam than I expected, not that it was unwanted, the sex scenes were off the charts, hot yet sensual, with a touch of dominance and submission. However, there’s way more to the story than the sex.
Lux, a free spirit, has slept with six of her seven close friends. All of who are introduced early in the story, but thankfully they don’t overwhelm the plot. This instalment for the most part is all about Lux, and is told from her point of view. The first chapter is very different to the rest of the story as in, she talks to the reader, something I detest, so I was extremely thankful after the initial intro the style of narration changed to one I was able to enjoy.
I liked Lux but also had a hard time reconciling she and her friends were in their late twenties. For the most part they acted like teenagers, with that said, I realize people mature, or should I say grow out of certain behaviors at different rates. But I digress, Lux is a complex character, who frequently goes on the hunt for ‘fresh bait’. She has no problem scoring, both gay and supposedly straight girls. Eventually, despite the copious amounts of sex Lux has, she comes to realize her emotional needs are not met.
Her friends are a mixed bag, all supporting her in different ways. Some agreeing with her lifestyle, others not so much, which of course courses some conflict. I can’t really say what eventuates without giving away spoilers, something I’m loathe to do, but the story kept me turning the pages, and I very much enjoyed the outcome. The story doesn’t end with a cliffhanger per-say but left off nicely to set up book 2!
This is the second book I’ve read by Kaden Shay, she has a very engaging writing style and is fast becoming an author I’ll seek out when looking for a well written steamy lesbian romance. I urge anyone who enjoys the genre to check out ‘All about the Girls’ and other books written by this talented author.
