Controlled Asher didn’t expect to fall for free-spirited Daniel, but they’ll find what they desperately need in one another.
Police captain Asher Penaz’s staunch professionalism bleeds into his home life, down to his neatly pressed attire and Spartan apartment. He enjoys being in charge and in control, so his sudden and powerful attraction to the lighthearted, free-spirited Daniel Tover throws him for a loop. In his entire life, Daniel has never gotten what he needs, so he moves to the next place, the next job, the next attempt to find something worth staying for, always landing at the top of his game, but never feeling like he belongs.
The chemistry between Asher and Daniel sizzles, but with all that fire comes the risk of getting burned. As both men struggle to learn themselves while getting to know each other, the lines of desire and control blur. If Daniel and Asher can walk through the flames together, they might find what they desperately need.
REVIEW:
I have to say that I’ve always liked Cardeno’s work and this story was no different.
Asher Penaz is a man who loves control. Asher is a police captain who has such a dominant personality that it also carries into his love life. Asher is a Dom and he makes no bones about whom he is. I really liked that about Asher. Asher isn’t one for flights of fancy and yet, when Asher meets Daniel…his life is thrown off course. Asher is the kind of man who thinks that his life should be one way and that he’s happy that way. I like that Asher changes his ways, slowly but surely as his relationship with Daniel grows. Asher is just about one of the most fun guys to watch change the direction of his life. I will say that Asher does some things that made me want to reach in and punch him in the face…multiple times. What he allows his stupid jealously to run his head…man…punch in the Face!!!
Daniel Tover…now that sweet boy is just so damn adorable to me. Daniel has lived such an amazing life. He’s gone and done so many different things and has been able to make a success of his life. I like that Daniel is really kind of scatterbrained. I love how things seem to happen and he’s just so damn cute that I wanna take his hand and say it’s ok. No Worries, we’ll figure it out. Daniel’s private life has had it’s ups and downs. Daniel has abandonment issues that he feels so deeply. I hurt hearing him talk about it, because this really sweet guy shouldn’t have those kinds of issues. I really liked him so much that I have to say that he’s really my favorite character in this story.
I have to say that without a doubt, Cardeno C writes some really good stories. I always find myself just falling for either both MC’s or just one of them. I know that whenever I pick up one of her stories, I’m about to be taken on a journey of love and discovery. That is something I hope to get from every book that I read.
Now, we all know that Cardeno C writes a good story and this book was no exception. Cardeno also writes some really good sexy times and again…this was no exception. I love the way that these characters slowly but surely fall in love and yet, they still have to deal with the craziness of life. I love that the physical aspect of their relationship never grew old. It was always a way for them to truly express their growing love for each other that was always beautiful.
Narration:
This is the second story that Ezekiel Robison has narrated that I’ve read and I have to say that he’s really growing on me. I like that he’s got really good tonal qualities in the voices that he does. With some narrators, I get sick of their voices, however, with Ezekiel, I find that I’m usually so into the story in which he narrates that I don’t even think about his voice.
I love the way that each character seems to truly have their own “voice” and that Ezekiel really makes them come even more “alive” to me for wont of a better term.
Ezekiel has a new fan in me and I look forward to hearing more from him.
