Tide Germaine is a model and a Dom. He and his best friend Tyrone opened The Iron Eagle Gym as a place for gay men in the lifestyle to work out, do scenes, and congregate with like-minded men. The modeling is just another job for Tide, but it soon turns into a grand seduction as Tide falls for the shy, self-conscious photographer. The problem is Lance doesn’t believe he’s in Tide’s league, and he’s not at all sure about the Dom and sub thing.
It’s not going to be easy, but Tide’s going to have to convince Lance he belongs at Tide’s side as both lover and sub.
REVIEW:
For me, Sean Michael’s stories are hit or miss. Some, I just absolutely Love and some I’m Ehhh. This one was for me…I’m not really sure how I feel about this book.
We meet Lance Packet who is an up and coming photographer who has the chance to make enough money for the next 3 years if he can pull off this BDSM deck of cards. Lance is a guy who feels so much safer behind the lens of his camera. He likes to observe and not really participate in life. However, he, like so many others who have been ignored most of their lives believes that he’s not worth love. Until the day that Tide walks in his life and shows him that he is indeed worth that and so much more.
Tide Germaine is a model as well as a business owner. He co-owns The Iron Eagle Gym with his best friend, Tyrone. Tide is a Dom who has been alone for a while and is looking for the “One”. The sub who is just meant for him. Tide thinks that he’s found that in Lance and he will do anything to make sure that Lance becomes his!! Tide is this really good guy. I love how he sees what he wants and how he goes for it. He pushes Lance out of his corner and doesn’t allow him to hide from Tide or himself.
Now, as this is a Sean Michael book, you know that there is going to be a Large Amount of sexy times and this book is no different. I don’t mind when a book has lots of sexy times and when it moves a story along. Now, for me this book felt like it had more sexy time than story time and that bothered me as I wanted more of Tide and Lance finding their footing. They did, don’t get me wrong…but I felt as if the sexy time overwhelmed just a bit for me in this book.
This book had a wonderful side characters in Tyrone and Bran. These guys were really good friends to Lance as he was making this transition into the BDSM lifestyle and as Tide’s Best Friends and sometime lovers. These guys were a great couple and showed some of what Tide wants his relationship to be like. I like that this was a couple that were deeply and very soundly in love with each other that it came up off the page for you to see and feel. I am quite looking forward to the next book in the series as the focus is Bran and Tyrone.
Now, like I stated earlier, I’ve read so many Sean Michael’s books before, hell I’ve reviewed them before. I have spent many an hour enjoying Sean’s books and haven’t thought a thing about it and yet, this one reminded me another book of Sean’s and that bothers me so damn much. But I suppose that sometimes a new character is sometimes has the same issues as another character. Which isn’t bad, but it did take away from the story.
Overall, it was really a good book and I really loved the secondary characters. I loved Tide and Lance together, but the feeling that I’ve read this story before…that threw me and took away from the new story.
