Exiled by his pack as a teen, Omega wolf Simon Moorehead learns to bury his gentle nature in the interest of survival. When a hulking, rough-faced Alpha catches Simon on pack territory, he tries to escape what he’s sure will be imminent death. But instead of killing him, the Alpha takes Simon home.
A man of action, Mitch Grant uproots his life to support his brother in leading the Blue Mountain pack. Mitch lives on the periphery, quietly protecting everyone, but always alone. A mate is a dream come true for Mitch, and he won’t let little things like Simon’s rejections, attacks, and insults get in their way. With patience, seduction, and genuine care, Mitch will ride out the storm while Simon slays his own ghosts and Mitch’s loneliness.

REVIEW:
Blue Mountain holds very few good memories for Simon Moorehead. After the old Alpha had kicked him out for being a male Omega, he and his mother have wandered the country for years. And now he’s back. Except he is only back so that Simon can bury his mother in the land that she grew up on. He doesn’t expect a warm reception, but then again, he never intends anyone to find out he was there in the first place.
Let’s just say that plan didn’t work out so well.
Because when Mitch Grant scents the man on a few of his pack mates, he knows that the Omega is his mate. Not that Simon wants anything to do with him, but a mate is a mate is a mate. And he isn’t letting his get away from him. So he does what any ‘reasonable’ alpha would do. He kidnaps him. Simon is…not pleased. But Mitch knows that all he needs to do is get the Omega to see reason and everything will be A-OK. Really.
This is the first audiobook I’ve reviewed in which I hadn’t already read the story before, so it was a bit of a new experience for me. I have to say not knowing what was going to happen certainly kept me glued to my ipod.
I found myself really enjoying this story, for the most part. It had a real nice pace to it, and I had a hard time stopping myself from listening to it all in one go, despite the fact that I had Things That Must Be Done (I hate Things…they always keep me from reading, so they must be evil). And it certainly didn’t hurt that the Stupid Mistake that causes all MCs to lose their sanity and act like toddlers, never actually happened. So when I was expecting to have everything go wrong…it didn’t. Which was good on my nerves, and a nice surprise.
I’m not sure how I feel about the whole kidnapping thing. Personally, holding someone hostage till they love you has never worked out for me; but then again, I’m not a werewolf. I still have a hard time understanding why Mitch thought that was the best recourse…but I also kinda understand why he did it. So…yeah. Not sure how to feel about that.
My biggest issues comes from the narration of this story. The voices for Mitch and his brother were great. And for the most part, the telling of the story as a whole went very well. I was certainly hooked. But…Simon can across a bit too whiny for me. I wanted desperately to connect with this dude and sympathise with his real shitty past, but his voice…well it made me feel more like slapping him, than hugging him. There was just something about it that said ‘spoiled toddler’ when it should have said ‘wary male.’ Or even ‘pissed off Omega who is going to brain you with a kettle if you don’t let his ass go, you hormonally imbalanced Alpha!’
Also, the voice for Mitch’s nephew…a bit ear piercing.
So while I enjoyed the story, the audio parts sometimes didn’t really do it for me. And this is one story that I’m pretty sure I would have enjoyed more in book format, since the voices in my head were less likely to get on my nerves the way some of the voices in my ears had.
