Dani: Today we welcome Jacob Z Flores to our blog to talk about his new release “When Love Comes To Town”
He answered a few question for us as part of his Blog Tour 🙂
Jacob:First of all, I want to thank all the fine folks here at Love Bytes/Sid Love for being so great to me. I always love stopping by here because you make a guy feel so welcome with all the drinks and the personal scantily clad masseur. You folks are top notch!
D:First lets talk about the reason you are visiting you latest release part 4 of the provincetown series “when love comes to town”
What do you like to share with us about that story?
J:Well, first off, this is the last book of the Provincetown Series, which doesn’t have to be read in order. So, if you’re just now coming into the series, you can pick up this book, and you won’t feel as if you’re lost. Each book in the series is a standalone, and the MCs of one book are the supporting characters in the other books.
When Love Comes to Town follows Brody O’Shea, who was introduced in book three. He’s moved to Provincetown, and he’s ready to find a man. Up until this point in his life, Brody’s lived the life of the horndog. He’s jumped from man to man and bed to bed because he fears relationships. The last one he had was in college, and when it got too serious, he bolted. A lot of Brody’s insecurities stem from his parents, who were awful role models.
But being in P-town surrounded by all his happily partnered friends, he longs to find an ideal match of his own. Brody goes about it the wrong way. He has a stringent list of requirements that he expects any man he dates to meet. If he doesn’t, he’s stricken from the list and Brody moves on. He doesn’t understand why he can’t find a hot, sane, single, confident, childless, non-smoking and non-snoring man.
So when Eric Vasquez comes to town for his cousin Van’s wedding, Brody is instantly attracted to the hot cop who’s basically sex on a stick. Eric, however, has a kid. So Brody crosses Eric off his list.
But when love comes to town, what we want and what we ultimately find are two different things.
D:How did you become to write this ( I might definitely say populair) series ?
J:I have spent the last 8 summers in Provincetown, and over the years I’ve met a slew of great people and had so many great adventures that when I was looking to write a series, Provincetown seemed like the most logical place to set it.
Many of the people are based off friends I’ve made during my adventures, and even some of the situations are based on real life as well. I won’t get too specifc on that in order to protect the, uh, innocent. Yeah, let’s go with innocent. But I’ve had so many experiences that they have just naturally worked their way into the books.
I also wrote this series because I fell in love with Provincetown during my first visit, and I wanted to share that love with my readers. Some of them have even booked trips to P-town after reading the books.
D:If you would live in Provincetown what would you like to do ?
J:Wow! That would be a dream come true. What I’d most love to do is write there full time. It’s a wonderful place for inspiration. I could sit on Commercial Street and people watch and create stories based on the characters I see traipsing up and down the strip. And they’re all easy on the eyes too, which is just icing on the cake.
But if I had to get a real job, I think I’d like to open up a bed and breakfast. That way I can tell my staff what to do and then sit back and still write while they did all the work.
D:Is there any relation between you and one ( or more) of the characters from Provincetown?
J:Actually, a lot of the characters have aspects of my personality. The one that comes the closest though is Zach Kelly. He was one of the MCs from When Love Takes Over, the first book of the series. He’s a author and a teacher; a clumsy, goofball; and lacks self-esteem. Okay, he’s almost EXACTLY like me.
D:If you could spend a perfect day in Provincetown what would you day look like ?
J:I’ve had so many perfect days in Provincetown already!
At this point in my life though, my perfect day would be taking the man I love to visit the place I love, showing him all the spots that are special and wonderful like the breakwater, the Pilgrim Monument, Herring Cove and Race Point beaches, and Tea Dance. I’d experience it with him and through his eyes. I think that would make me fall in love with P-town all over again.
D:You have written some other novels but they are definitely different from this series looking at “3”and “The Gifted One” , is that something you like to explore ? touching different subjects or boundaries?
J:Definitely. I try to vary my subjects. In fact, the novel I just finished writing is very different from what I’ve written so far. My characters have been men about my age. In my current WIP, they are high school boys, trying to navigate the choppy social waters of high school while discovering who they are and what they feel for each other.
I’m also planning a paranormal series as well as a thriller or two.
D:What can we expect from you in the near or distant future?
J:Hopefully in October, my WIP will be published. It’s tentatively titled Being True. It’s about a high school boy with awkward looks and a weird name—Truman L. Cobbler. He transfers from school to school and has a hard time fitting in. He gets bullied a lot too. But then he meets Javi Castillo, the hot, popular baseball jock, who takes an immediate liking to Tru. Their friendship rocks the social cliques of their high school, and they have to decide whether to be true to themselves and their feelings or let high school politics, and the bullies who want to squash Tru, define them.
D:Thanks for stopping by and visiting us ( again)
J:Thank you for having me (again)! I’ve had a great time. I also want to thank all your readers. I appreciate the time you took to visit with me today.
D:It is always a pleasure to have you stop by Jacob 🙂

BLURB:
Brody O’Shea isn’t looking for much, just a hot guy with a decent job, who is sane and doesn’t have kids. The son of a former rock star, Brody has lived through the pain of bankruptcy and bad parenting, and he doesn’t want to experience it again. As a reformed horndog, he wants the security and stability of a relationship. But almost every guy he meets seems satisfied with Mr. Right Now, and he wants to find Mr. Right—now!
The only men Eric Vasquez chases are criminals. As a deputy and single father, he has no need for a relationship after his last one ended disastrously. He lives for and through Maddie, his nine-year-old daughter. Everything else is a needless distraction, but distraction is what Eric gets when he comes to Provincetown to attend the wedding between his cousin Van and the man of his dreams.
When Brody and Eric meet, what they want and what they find conflict. An ocean of expectations separates them. If they cannot move past their reservations to reach each other’s shores, they might miss the boat when love comes to town.
Jacob Z. Flores lives a double life. During the day, he is a respected college English professor and mid-level administrator. At night and during his summer vacation, he loosens the tie and tosses aside the trendy sports coat to write man on man fiction, where the hard ass assessor of freshmen level composition turns his attention to the firm posteriors and other rigid appendages of the characters in his fictional world.
Summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts, provide Jacob with inspiration for his fiction. The abundance of barely clothed man flesh and daily debauchery stimulates his personal muse. When he isn’t stroking the keyboard, Jacob spends time with his husband, Bruce, their three children, and two dogs, who represent a bright blue blip in an otherwise predominantly red swath in south Texas.

Excerpt:
Brody led Eric and his daughter Maddie down the pier and toward the lot where he’d parked the Funk Van. So far, the pickup had gone less than smoothly. First, he’d incorrectly pegged Eric as a potential mate. He would’ve been perfect too. As stunning as Eric was from afar, he was even more remarkable up close.
Dark hair, tanned skin, built like a brick shithouse, and the most unique amber eyes he’d ever seen in his life. Talk about a walking wet dream.
At least he would’ve been. If Eric didn’t have a daughter. Which also meant that he was most likely yet another happily partnered man. Just what he needed. When happy couples were together, they were impossible to be around. When happy couples were apart, well, they were even worse than lovesick teenagers pining over their high-school sweetheart who was away at summer camp.
It was pretty sickening. Even though he wished he had someone to pine for too.
As if meeting such a hot man who did not meet his standards wasn’t bad enough, he had also upset the little girl, who had a serious hate-on for tardiness. Was she gunning for perfect attendance throughout life or something?
That had been pretty fucking peculiar. But then again, what kid wasn’t strange?
“Is that yours?” Maddie asked. She pointed to the Funk Van, and her eyes sparkled like the stars overhead.
“Well, I don’t own it, but yes, that’s what I drove here.” She squealed in reply. This kid got stranger by the minute.
“Oh. My. God!” she screamed as she bolted for the van, dragging her suitcase behind her.
“Maddie!” Eric called after her, but his daughter paid him no attention. His eyes grew saucer wide as he scanned the mostly empty parking lot. What was he looking for? Psychopathic killers? This was Provincetown, not New York City. Eric needed to chill.
“Don’t worry,” he told Eric. “She’ll be fine. P-town’s a pretty safe place.” Eric glared at him as if he was the stupidest man in the world. “Besides, it’s not like we can’t see her from here,” he pointed out.
Eric took three deep breaths before calming down. For a big guy, he was easily set on edge. Where was this guy’s wife? Or husband? Or whatever he had. He certainly didn’t want to have to bring him down from the rafters all week.
He signed on to pick him up from the ferry. That was it.
Once that was done, he doubted he’d be spending any more time with Eric and Maddie than was necessary.
“Sorry,” Eric finally said. His voice was low but sturdy. He could probably hear this man whisper in a windstorm. What happened if he ever shouted? Brody definitely didn’t want to find out. When he spoke again, Eric’s eyes didn’t meet Brody’s. He kept them glued on his daughter. “I’m just very protective.”
No shit! But he couldn’t fault Eric. At least he cared for his daughter. His parents had tried, but they never really succeeded at anything when it came to him. “No worries,” he finally replied. “She’s your daughter.”
“Yes,” Eric nodded. A smile grew across his face, and that smile reflected a warmth that he had yet to see from the serious, easily startled, and overprotective man. It made him even more stunning.
Fuck! He would be attracted to a man there was absolutely zero future with.
